Returning to move Forward -100 Days of Poetry Challenge: Day Seven

I sit and wait
for time to stop
for every little
thought to drop

Out of my mind
and watch it swim
towards recognition
from the sun.

I twist and turn
to make my way
against the grain of
yesterday,

To seek new knowledge
to ease my pain
To lessen all that
feels the same

Screaming out
from times long gone,
in which direction
must I come.

Hiding from
the knowing rain
falling down
to share in shame.

I sit and wait
for all my courage
wrapped in blue
and green and orange.

Colours that awake my senses
that lift me up
and turn back centuries.
moving forward with the sun
moving on with everyone.

NOTES
This poem is about my desire to see change, but first it must come from myself, do I learn from our past? or start a new?
I consider myself to be intermediate level.

We have to move on and forget the past for change to occur. Thanks for posting this article

yes indeed, thank you @adebayopaul

beautiful poem :)

This was a truly pleasant read, @trucklife-family, and I appreciated the mindfullness emphasized in your words - the importance of the past (especially, as I understand it from your words, the recognition of one's mistakes) to find the wisdom and direction to pursue our future in the present.

Some gorgeous lines dotting the piece, and the ones that most stood out were these:

against the grain of
yesterday,

Such a clever turn of phrase, it had me sitting up right and - had I not already been rapt - it called to my attention to be aware wisdom was to be had here.

Thank you so much for sharing!
