RE: Steemit Ultimate Challenge 8 Weeks ( Prize Fund 2000 SBD ) Week #4 - Registration is in Progress

in #steemitultimatechallenge7 years ago (edited)

Hey @dobartim! Great initiative. One question regarding the funds: where will these 2,000 SBD come from? According to your post, your sponsors donated 100 SBD so far, but in your wallet there is not ony 1.00 SBD.

I wonder who you will be able to pay the prizes you're promoting here? You know: transparency is key in business :-)

Self-voted for more visibility, I guess this is an interesting question for many users.

I'm also looking for the answer to this query. Thanks for raising it @surfermarly!

@surfermarly I just wrote about that. It appears the generous donations are coming from excessive bot self-promotion.
Check out Trending today and you'll see what I mean ;-)
PS: Thanks for questioning this with a louder voice than mine.

Unfortunately the bidbot owners who boosted their trash to the trending page are not assuming any responsibility and keeping their votes. It's ridiculous! Even though they're pretty aware of the abuse, they still don't do anything to act against it - because it would reduce their earnings.

You make a lot of assumptions that are very far from the truth, I can't speak for other owners but I know my situation.

I got the report on it but I can't just remove votes because I don't like something. I very rarely remove votes, it has to black and white abuse or plagiarism and it has to be very bad for me to actually remove votes. I have received your report as well as others and I will look into it when I get to go through my queue.

I've skimmed the post but I haven't done enough research yet to make a decision. These things don't happen immediately when you request it, and there is no guarantee anything will happen. I get 100 messages a day and I can't deal with everything right away. I log it and then go through it when I am doing research. Most decisions are extremely difficult and subjective.

If you are asking me to remove a vote, I am going to take time and decide if it is appropriate and the right call to do. I'm not going to just go removing votes because someone complains about a post. Losing money would be the least of my problems if I responded as careless as that.

That being said, it's not like they made money on the post. They spent 680 SBD and will make around 485 SBD as of right now.

Far from the truth? What is the truth? The truth is that some heavy excessive vote buying is happening and that just two candidates boosted 1) trash and b) fraud to the top 2 trending positions. This here is not about me and all the other fellow steemians who jumped in on your behalf and wasted their voting power in order to balance rewards. This is about your lack of responsibility.

Oh really, they will loose money? I can't see this! A top trending position will bring them hundreds of followers and increase their reputation considerably. Have you thought about that? No you haven't.

But take your time to study and read and think and finally make your decision.

If this wasn't your business account but your private account, would you upvote such trash, too?

Well said, but while there is money to be made...

From what I've seen there should be a limit of spend per bid bot. Say 10 SBD per post, that way it'll be way harder get on the trending page without considerable effort.

We need to keep in mind that unregistered users see this page and it's our first impression to the world. I'd prefer curated content to appear there rather than promoted content.

Perhaps a small tweak to exclude posts using bit bots on the Trending Page would also suffice.
