You are a knife cutting your own body
Into lightless sizes and placing them on a
Plane- too fragile to carry the weight of laughter.
You're the sun scorching your own skin,
The sky holding broken stars over your head
And the water drowning your voices.
You're the fire setting your beauty in flames,
The moon turning your being against the night,
The moth on the flowers of your heart
And you are the shadow of everything you're not.
When the noon runs out of the sun
We remove the veil from our eyes for illumination
And when the night becomes too dark for our sight
We see with the eyes of our souls.
When a wing is broken
The wind becomes a substitute
And when sadness becomes a hymn
You sing with the sol-fa(s) of joy.
There are many ways to outsmart death
Just as there are to a woman's heart
And there are many ways to live free in bondage
Just as there are to crafting love.
You're a god- art in human form,
A perfect harmonization of colours
And you're everything that sparks like fireworks
In a boy's head when he stares into his lover's eyes.
So, before you die
Remember you're the reason someone somewhere is still breathing.
