Plenty of voices on the crypto space have been saying that this alt downtrend is going to kill a lot of projects, and I believe this is undeniable at this point. Sadly some people will get hurt, but It's hard to see the upside when a project is literally hanging from a pinky.
How are the servers being paid at this point? I have no clue. I mean, the math doesn't lie, and one WLS is currently worth less than 1 penny. To be more precise, you would need 416-420 WLS to get 1 USD, and as far as I know the servers cost a lot more than that.
I've not dug deep into the subject, but for the sake of argument, let's say a node is costing about $50 per month to run. We could probably say and not be far off, that running the node requires 20k WLS sales to break even. Now if that's not selling pressure, then I don't know what is.

But now is the time to really think of where we are depositing our time and money. Of course, there's a chance the Whaleshares will make it, who knows, but the risk is immense right now.

Fuzzy and the rest of the WhaleShares community should just go back to STEEM and build their token on the steem-engine.
Looking at it it's probably just full of people copy-pasting their content from STEEM anyway. Also I heard some negative comments from the former team so there's that.
I don't think that'll happen.
I never got into Whaleshares, but I heard some people were duplicating what they did in Steem there in case it did well. The Steem community cannot afford to get split, but the various tokens are creating factions with a certain self interest. As long as they are all on Steem that may be okay.

smoke has been pretty cheap lately too, been taking the opportunity to pick some up as the total supply is only 20m I believe and 50/50 is nice against authors just dumping as we've seen on steem for the past 3 years. It's at around 0.1-0.12 bts nowadays.
I made an account there, but not being a smoker, and having angered a whale there for some reason, made it to where posting there made little sense for me.

There are not enough participants (investors, bloggers and devs) to sustain so many projects (e.g. whaleshare, bearshare etc.). Therefore, sticking to the winner (i.e. Steem) would be a great surviving tool for now.

I think that WLS doesn't have a chance to thrive, it's just a crappy copy of Steem, and everyone who has their money there should get it out before the ship collapses.
More consolidation will help the stronger and viable projects so looking forward to seeing the survivors!
