When I joined Steem I began my hobby as an animator. As some of you might recall, I was responsible for over 60 videos with Steemy, the animated Steem puppet. I created tutorials for Steem and its dApps and my highest paid post until today is my collection post of all my Steemy videos: 60 Steem Video Tutorials For Beginners - The Grand Steemy Collection.
But I wanted to go a step further and create a next level puppet for Adobe Character Animator, the software that I use to track my face and do lip syncing to my voice as well as several other cool features. With the help of the amazing illustrator @kayrex, who also recently created the Mushroom Monsters for 1UP, I developed @thecryptodwarf. It is a dwarf with a magical belt for various Steem dApps logos.
Sadly, besides an unsatisfying introduction video for Steem and semi-funny interview with myself and the dwarf, I have finally found a great purpose for the puppet: Creating tutorials, strategy guides and tournament live stream for Steem Monsters is more than appropriate for the dwarf. He looks like he is coming out of the game itself already, so that is just perfect.
Finally, I upped my animation skill and actually invested some time in my first video. I made tons of animations in it and used all the original graphics from Steem Monsters to give it the right flair. Without a doubt I am my biggest critic, particularly with my videos. But this one is something I am pretty proud about and it motivates me to finally have a fantastic use case for @thecryptodwarf.
will do an extra upload with @thecryptodwarf on DTube later):Without further ado, here is the @Steem Monsters introduction video in 1080p (

Thanks for using POCKET! I am running this confirmer code.
Thanks so much for this. Now I've got something to bring with me for my next crypto meetup here in Auckland, New Zealand! I can also imagine this video being used on loop playback, on big screens at gaming and cyberculture expos too. So many opportunities for your little dwarf to explain SteemMonsters to potential new players!

This was just the beginning. Let me know if you need some special video for Steem Monsters promotion with different content. This is kind of long I guess for such a purpose.
very well done. The community is lucky to have people like you contributing to the project.
Thank you for your contribution.
Very well done! You're an animating master.
How did you create the energy flowing around the cards? incredible!
Cool right? I wanted to do something I have never done. I went to After Effects, took the path from the cards image and gave it and outline with dashes and gaps. But I totally forgot how I finally animated it. I just followed a tutorial. Have to do it again a few times before it sinks in!
Hopefully you can show me some tricks when we are in Europe.
By the way: Next time you want to use the 1UP mascots, use a good quality from our public folder. I see you cutted it out. Nice effort but you can have it easier. ;)
Very nice! I’ve been meaning to produce an Adobe Character Animator clip, but geez...there’s so many expressions and body part variations to create first! There’s definitely an investment in time and planning before you can even start the recording! Great tutorial idea!

I have created four puppets in ACA and I can tell you it is some good effort to create a puppet like this dwarf. However, don't get intimidated as you can start with just the basics first and add later more layers. It is actually very easy to get started. You can even take default mouth shapes and/or use hands for free. Let me know if you have some questions.
Wow! What hard work you put into this! This is so amazing! I love it! Thank you for being an important part of the Steem Monsters Community! :-)

You are AWESOME!
Thank you, always good to hear that from a talking mushroom. :P
After my first day of battles, I am truly in need of some tutoring! This is a great initiative, thanks!
I had actually a strategy video planned but this had to kind of come first. So stay tuned. :)
@flauwy Well explained, especially the game play details. I can tell you took your time to make sure the details were very clear. This video will be a help to all new comers, great work!
The next videos will be more strategic. :)
I like the dwarf, and his voice
Thank you, this was a lot of work ;)

Wow, @flauwy a lot of work and good details, congratulations, nice video.
Thank you, it was a very passionate work. And it helped to make my decision: 1UP will create one of the official Boss Monsters via the Kickstarter campaign. This will hopefully be a huge promo for 1UP. :)
This is awesome great work!
Mad skills, man. I love it. Just fantastic.
