Does Green Still Suck???
In a previous post (https://steemit.com/steemmonsters/@braaiboy/why-does-my-green-deck-suck-so-bad), I was lamenting the fact that it took me near my 24 hour limit to complete Lyanna's quest. I'd won just 6 of my last 50 games, and who knows how many it actually took to get to 10 wins.
A LOT easier playing white
My next quest was with the life splinter, and as you can see below I went 10 for 10 with my white deck!
.. so I carried on, because maybe I'd dropped so much rank, I was being paired with justthe newbies... but I eventually ended on 24 wins out of 25 played. OK, so that's a bit of an anomaly, but a welcome relief after thinking I sucked at this @SteemMonsters thing ;-)
Today's black splinter quest was pretty much what I've come to expect:
Winning 10 of my 14 games with a black deck.
However Green CAN win
Looking at the pre-fighting status, you can easily see what an effect Green's abilities has on the game... The majority of those abilities however are NOT present on level 1 & 2 green creatures though... and I'm pretty sure if Lyanna was summoning these same monsters, but levels 1-2, this match would have been a walk in the park for me.OK so green CAN indeed win... but only if you've levelled up way higher than your opponent. In the game below, I was matched up against @quiplet (who ended up having a very easy victory over me).
Having said that, I would also be very interested to see what would happen if I had been summoning level 4-5 creatures to this same fight... hmmmm??? I don't have any level 3 or higher summoners yet, so aside from a passing glance, I have little idea what black, white, red & blue creatures really look like at levels 4 and up... so if any of you ARE in that league, please let me know how your green decks are fairing against equally levelled other colour decks.
Anyway... so like I said, I made it through the death splinter quest with a fair amount of ease, and opened the following booster:
... NO GREEN MONSTERS :-(
... but Tyrus will come in handy as I mission to level up my summoners and start summoning monsters that are gonna help me win some battles in the gold league. I'm currently in Silver I, which is the highest I've managed to get so far - Let's just hope I can avoid the green quests, or I'm never gonna get there ... HAHAHA.
Anyway... so that's enough of me hating on SteemMonsters' green splinter for now...

Welllllll I've never played and never bothered to visit the site. What's the game actually like? worth bothering about from the point of view of someone who has never even played this type of card game involved? Any actual skill or is it about stumping up cash to buy the best cards?
Well... like pretty much ANY other TCG, yes... the person that spends the most has the coolest cards (and will often win).
However, with @SteemMonsters you aren't paired up against the players with much better cards than yours. So while you aren't going to end up on the top of the log, you can easily finish daily quests and win lots of battles by being paired against opponents with similar strength cards to your own.
And then, like most TCGs (or any card game really)... there's an element of chance for sure... but a lot is left to the player to make sure they use their head and make good deck choices/strategy.

Indeed... I noticed yesterday that I was able to "request new quest" when I was given a green quest... haven't seen that before with the other colours though.. so maybe @SteemMonsters agree with us :P

This year we had a mate from America come over here though, so we skipped our trip over to your side. I was in Kansas year before last and we took over the entire Speedway for the American Royal... WHAT A PARTY!!!

Damn that's sick! Didn't realize KCBS and the American Royal reached so far! My dad used to compete on a Marines team in the American Royal, was a ton of fun going to their campsite and partying with them. I'll checkout your youtube channel for some recipes, since I'm not too good at braaing myself :D

I'm not an expert so my advice could be not useful
If you have a Spirit of the Forest (with protect) on your green team, everything becomes much easier! Flesh Golem makes a great tank, especially if he has void. Also, if Swamp Thing is powered up enough to have 'slow', your team is pretty much unstoppable!
Well maybe not unstoppable... but with weaken (-1 health) and slow (-1 speed) on your enemies, and protect (+2 shield) and health bonus (+1 health) plus double healing for your flesh golem... tough to beat!

HOLY SHIT... Just checked out Spirit of the Forest... and nope... don't have one of those yet.
The rest of the monsters though DO become a lot more useful as they level up, yes... but the other colours are useful at levels 1 & 2 already (which is where I'm playing around at the moment).

I'm not sure who @johndoer123 will choose, but I would pick the Grumpy Dwarf (it reminds me of my wife before she's had her coffee), and since I don't know anything about Incinboost (yet), I'd have to choose an SBI share.

Hello there @incubot 😉actually we can win some fights with the green depending on the rules and mana needed in the battle so we can form some best line up 😊 according to my experiences I could win with lyana and took advantage of the rules and combine my line up with epic and rare neutral cards. With the last rules 19 mana and meele and range attack all I need only level 1 Rexxie, magi and splintersrock warrior.
But maybe I just lucky with that 😉 so.. it depends on the rules too. I think @nureza and @angelacs would love to have any of that monsters but I'd prefer fire beetle 😉
Yeah... Today's new conflict rules "melee monsters attacking from anywhere" might just give green a chance... but in standard format, the lower level greens stand very little chance against the other splinters.
Let me try it and I'll come back with the result.. because I'm playing on gold 2 now 😊 need to rank down to find the right matches
Magic of forest, Earth elemental, Fresh golem must have in your deck, if you want to succeess with earth siplinter ( at least lvl 3 or 4 ) and and if possible Swap Thing it gives openent death and just 2 mana but you need to lvl 3 or up though. With 20 and more mana Rexie lvl 3 or 4 quite good too.

I am not needing a card or one of the shares. But any splintered deck can win it all depends on your setup and the levels. I noticed when someone has higher level cards, I am more likely to lose if they have the better setup. I have halted at plat 3 as I need to level up a bit more to get stronger but I am happy with this ranking now.
for sure... but the catch comes in with
"and the levels"... it just feels like level 1&2 green is way under the other splinters.P.S. Did you get to Plat 3 using mostly green?

I'm using death splinter gennaraly my earth deck not strong enough for my rank andÍ'm not a good vadviser for green.

Same here... all my splinters are level 1 & 2... and my black & whiter splinter quests are a walkover.
My buddy @minimining wasn’t even going to play #steemmonsters at first, claiming that he “wasn’t a gamer”. And now he plays more than I do, trading and giving away cards all the time, haha! :D
hmmmm... I used to be HUGE into MTG etc. and know how addictive TCGs can be... so I purposefully didn't buy too many cards... just wanted to "fool around"... have had to stop myself on more than one occasion from squandering my STEEM/SBD on boosters/cards instead of powering up :P

I'm surprised to hear this! Green is my favorite splinter lol Even when they were at level 1&2. But now that most of my green cards are at level 3, they can beat even higher leveled cards from other splinters ;)
