Why useless? :P Max level Vampire has 7 speed + Flying so it's really hard to hit. And with Selenia 5 ranged attack. And he probably will be first who attack.
The disadvantage is that you have to hide it so that he can get some HP before he is attacked. And that the attack on the shield does not give HP.
Great for Unprotected rule.
For me it's similiar to Air Elemental or Javelin Thrower (high speed / hard to hit / 5 ranged attack).
It's just that he has to get some HP himself.
