Hi Steemit friends,
now i finding me making a daily report on the booster packs left on the Steem Monsters site. The numbers falling unbelievable fast now. Every day there are not just a thousand but tens of thousands of them sold. Each pack contains 5 Alpha Edition cards with the chance to pick very rare golden versions. Currently we have just 28,000 left and i guess they could be out of store tomorrow.

Where can i get Alpha cards if they sold out?
I think of three options:
1. In the secondary market of Steem Monsters or peakmonsters they will be traded for a certain price
2. user2user on discord in the following channels
Steem Monsters MT MOX MONSTER MARKET groups
TSMG trading-room
3. reseller who hold unopened packs now and create their own market
What is the value proposition for Alpha cards?
They are simply capped with 300k booster packs which theoretically means there are just 300k X 5 cards = 1.5 million cards available. To get a better understanding for high value cards like regular legendaries and gold epics and legendaries a short table how many should have dropped out of all Alpha Edition cards:

Please take this with a grain of salt because drop rates changed over time and there is randomness so that is just an estimate. Market prices are fluctuating and there are some exceptions for special cards like the Selenia Sky. For example if you look at the golden Lightning Dragon. This is currently the most rare and valuable gold legendary because they dropped about 50% less than the other 3 dragons, which is very rare event among these cards. Prices ranging over $4,000 currently for this card where are just 16 in existence today! That means a drop rate of about 0,001% or in other words each 93,750 cards you'll see a golden Lightning Dragon, crazy, isn't it?!
Alpha is the leader!
You know the term alpha leader in society? These cards may could have also special abilities in the upcoming tournament. With this said they could be more valuable than the following Beta edition. There are rumors around that but no clear information what this will be until October.
Game Jam 🎮 Golden Axe for Steem Monsters!
While we looking forward to the tournament the community is creating crazy stuff! @steemmonsters organized a contest for creating the best alternative game around Steem Monsters. My clear favorite is a Golden Axe like game called There Will Be Dragons with well known characters (hello Zintar i'll kill you! 😈), good game mechanics, animations (rotoscope like in Another World 😁) and great music and sfx created by @jonny-clearwater @nidolabz @lunaticmoon @bigredd!

Yeah I wonder what's going to happen when the alpha packs run out. I'm also curious about just buying cards right off the market, you'd think it would be cheaper than packs right now.
oh yes, commons sold for $0.02 sometimes, that's a joke. Especially if you wanna level up for tournament i think it's fare cheaper to buy from secondary market now. Yesterday also Legendary increased fast in numbers because of the buying spree and prices plummeted further. STEEM is down, but the prices are far more down i think until we hit the cap and more players are flocking in looking for alpha cards.

Now that's something that I didn't know before! Very interesting. I hope it turns out to be so. I don't think I've ever been this close to the start of a new game before. Oh, I've done my fair share of beta testing of software in the past (haha, pretty much anything to come out of Redmond, WA, is permanently in Beta Release 😉), but never of a videogame before. This is very cool! I'm glad that I got in when I did.

I never collected any of the well known card games like Pokemon, Magic the Gathering because it was not my generation.. but Steem Monsters was different even for someone who missed this era 😉 But slowly i understand now what's behind. Please take it not too serious, just rumors currently. If there is a official announcement i read i will post it.
I know what you mean about the generational gap. Back in my day here in New Zealand, they had the collectible cards in the WeetBix packets, and Disney cards in with the Chesdale Cheese slices (I think it was), but they were only "collectible trading cards", not a game as such.
Yes, i remember such simple cards from childhood. Later (2004 and beyond maybe) i saw crowds of young boys in malls for meetups with their cards. That was the time for advanced cards in my region i think but i was just grinning about the geeky things going on.
