Unleashing Steem Monsters Tournaments!
With the recent launch of the "Challenge" option within Steem Monsters, it's now possible to set up and run a Steem Monsters tournament. At the moment this is a manual process. Over the next month we will be working on building a fully baked tournament system into the site and we'll begin sponsoring tournmants every week that are automatically managed. Additionally, the plan is to decentralize tournament creation so anyone that wants to access our audience has that capability.
In the meantime, there's nothing stopping us from getting tournaments started manually. So, let's do it!
Call for Tournament Hosts
Until automated tournaments are here we need folks to volunteer to host tournaments. The plan is to give a handful of people/teams SBD to serve as a prize purse for the tournaments. We'll give between 50-100 SBD per team each week until the full tournament system is launched. Hosts are expected to distribute 100% of the SBD. You can put it into 1 game or split it into multiple games over the course of a week.
If you would like to be a volunteer host to receive money and distribute it please make a comment below stating your request for up to 100 SBD, how many games you'll run with that, what continent you live on, and any additional languages that you are fluent in.
Bonus likelihood of being chosen if you will attempt to stream the tournament.
Expectations
- You will act ethically.
- You will distribute 100% of the money.
- You will accept names, give them a number chronologically, and you will place them on the tournament bracket in a first come, first serve manner.
- You will make the announcement post avaialble in English as well as additional langauges as appropriate.
- You will rotate games so that they are at various tiers of card play (bronze, silver, gold, diamond level cards).
What we're looking for
- Geographic, language, and time of tournament diversity
- Competence to run a game
- Ability to recruit players
- Active in the Steem Monsters community or well known on the platform
We're encouraging people to host the brackets through: https://challonge.com
Contest
For those that are chosen your goal is to recruit people to your game(s). Keep track of the brackets that you have in a given week.
The host that gets the most players per SBD spent in a given week will be given 50 booster packs as a reward!

I would definitely be up to host such tournaments for German language players. I guess guys like @oliverschmid, @twinner, @jarunik, etc. can confirm that I am trustworthy enough to do something like that :)
Edit: I guess I would host 2x 50 SBD or 3x33SBD tournaments if given 100sbd/week. Of course for different skill levels so that players with lower invests can win as well. I live in Austria, Europe and obviously speak German as a mother tongue!
Thank you for the organisation!
Would be cool if you can run a tournament.
100%!

Boah, muss ich jetzt echt Karten kaufen gehen?
Seems you need to buy some Boosters - I will send you a code for a free starter pack tomorrow :) Remind me in case I forget!
Oh, I do have some cards... Playing it with my secondary acc (@doctor-cog-diss). But only lvl 1 stuff, plus just 2 summoners. Didn't want to actually invest money...
It would be awesome given that the majority of the tournaments are not in the European time zone @theaustrianguy!
I really look forward to that

Hi.
This is a great idea!
Is it possible to make entry fees to rise tournament's winnings?
100 SBD with current value in USD is a bit low sum, especially when divided between participants (winners).
definitely, I would like to host one for Korean language users.
will host at https://challonge.com (my ID there is SMsmongo, someone already took ID of smongo ... )
for more than 16 players and 15 games.
total prize will be 100 sbd.
maybe silver/gold limited differently each round.
single elimination, best of 3 and best of 5 mixed.
I live in US, but the players will be only Korean Language Users from Korea and other countries.
And will post about the tournament in Korean and English after finished.
If Steem Monsters money is used to host a tournament everyone in the community has to be welcomed. Please respond here or in Discord.
Awesome news! Jan. 5th mark the date!!! :-)
I'd be interested in hosting a monster tournament of 256 max players for the Novice League (yes, level 1)
It'll take some time to complete (probs 3 hours) so I'd expect a minimum 100 SBD for prizes to make it worth peoples time.
And I might put out some feelers for donations of commons so everyone who wins at least one game gets something to go home with.
But it will be an all inclusive competition, as everyone has level 1 cards.
It'll happen sometime between Xmas and New Year.
(This could be run weekly if successful)
PS: If the prize was more I'd consider advertising it on my YouTube Channel too.
I would like to host a Japanese tournament.
trial run approved. 20 sbd sent.
Thank you!:D
When you get a post up about it please let me know. We're using Challonge.com to host the brackets. There are some example posts available on the @steemmonsters wall. I would like to see more asian time zone tournaments.
The tournament used Challonge.com.
