I agree with your suggestion of #SteemMonsters being an alternative entranceway to the Steem blockchain. To be honest though, I'd see it more as a "gateway drug", haha. Collecting SteemMonsters cards, and ultimately, to competing in the battles and tournaments (once they begin) is likely to lead to other activity on Steem. I know that my own interactions on the blockchain have improved immeasurably since I started getting into SteemMonsters. Already there are people creating DLive and DTube videos about their pack openings. SteemMonsters is also a great font of creative energy for the more traditional blog posts on Steem. The actual "gamification" aspect of SteemMonsters is only one part of all that this has brought to the blockchain, IMHO.
