Most of us are terrified by public speaking. It’s a natural process that we come across different people having different nature as we grow older. But at times, we found ourselves unable to express our views and ideas because either we lack confidence or have never interacted before. Here are few strategies that may help you overcome such fears.
Prepare and Rehearse: Practice makes a person perfect. First, be prepared with your matter thourougly. Once you have done that, do a day run infront of your family, friends or mirrors. This puts you in tune with your hand gestures and facial expressions.
Know your audiences of people: Find your audience’s age, gender and interests so you can target people as well as you can. Make sure that any humor is natural and appropriate.
Start by mingling with the audience: Try to meet people in the audience before you start speaking. A quick chat with them will help to improve your comfort levels.
Breathing Exercise: Before you speak take a deep breath. Hold it for three or four seconds and then exhale. Repeat these four or five times. Deep breaths will help make you feel more relaxed and calm.
Avoid any enhancing substances: Steer well clear of the temptation to have any kinds of substances to calm your nerves. You will more than likely to have one or many or much; and may end up saying something that you will later regret.
Try these tips a few times, and fire yourself with high confidence which you never thought existed within you.
