#3-SteeMotivation- If by Rudyard Kipling (poem)

in #steemotivation8 years ago (edited)

Hi my fellow Steemians,

As promised in my introductory post->https://steemit.com/introduceyourself/@yaseeny15/a-song-of-fire-and-fire-my-official-introduction

I will be doing a little series under the tag and category 'SteeMotivation'. I believe that everyone at some point in there lives goes through some pain and hardship. I have experienced this my self over the last 2 years with a series of unfortunate events. With this pain comes depression, anxiety, stress etc. I have been through all the motions and coping techniques and something that has really helped me is to have a little piece of inspiration each day. This inspiration has come from videos, quotes, articles, pictures, art and numerous other sources. I will be posting one of these pieces each day in the hope that it might help and aid those going through some dark and sad emotions. The things that I will be posting are not created by me and all credit goes to the original creators, authors etc. of their respective works. I will of course credit the original works in each post. I encourage everyone to get involved and share their experiences as well as posting their own pieces of inspiration under this tag-> SteeMotivation.

Today I have a got an apt and strong poem by Rudyard Kipling. I am sure many of you have read this one before but I feel that is quite a powerful poem that speaks to our inner morality and principles. Enjoy:)
If you can be Steem, while still being a dolphin... ;)

IF by Rudyard Kipling

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or, being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
Or, being hated, don’t give way to hating,
And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise;

If you can dream—and not make dreams your master;
If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with triumph and disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to broken,
And stoop and build ‘em up with wornout tools;

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: “Hold on”;

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with kings—nor lose the common touch;
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you;
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run—
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son!

Let us have a little fun today. Please post below your favorite one or two lines from this poem that are your favorite and what they mean to you or why you chose it.
Here is mine.
"If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with kings—nor lose the common touch;
"
These 2 lines really hit me because I see it becoming so common that people act differently depending on the crowd and situation in which they're in, or types of people that surround them. This, too me, is quite hilarious to watch but also gives a sense of a persons moral compass and what they stand for. I feel that we should all be the truest versions of ourselves no matter the circumstance. We should shape the moment and not allow the moment to mold our behavior.

What's your favorite line?:D
