This is my first time to meet with some of the members of SteemPH at UP Diliman Campus (it's pretty near at my place at Pasig) and it's the only chance to get to meet with them in person even though that Saturdays were meant for bible studies otherwise that I'll have a hard time in learning the ropes as a newbie and a non-techie millennial (trust me that I'm so not into to the tech stuff)
Before I get in touch with the Manila Team, I arrived at UP Diliman from my place around in the afternoon to reach my destination which is Melchor Hall that houses the College of Engineering with a little help of a student just to get pass of the guard.
At first that it would a piece of cake that I would able to find them so easily as such but then again...
I was wrong as things were getting screwed up by the time I enter these halls, asked some students of where is the even held which others don't know about it just like a cute little hamster who tries to find it way out of the maze like this:
It goes on
And on
And on
And on...
Luckily that one of the Professors from this college told me that I have to go the 5th floor in some of the events held there when I arrived there that I saw no sponsors inside which I asked to the organizers where are the location of the sponsors which they told me that it was at the Engineering theater on the 3rd floor.
It seems that there are other students who represent from their respective schools as such
These students represent UST which is my alma mater thus I have to say that "Go for Gold team!"
Finally that I was able to find there which I was tired and relied at the same time (although that I want to scold them a little but I'm here)
And there they are, sitting pretty in their seats which I only remember the names that stick into my head was no other than @luvabi and wanderlust(?) (Note: I'm truly sorry that I could not remember all your usernames which it was difficult on my part and maybe that after a number of subsequent meetups and events that I will able to remember you guys)
As I took a break for a while that I asked @luvabi further questions about the platform which she was accommodating with my request even though that she was still work on her presentation. She even mention that @surpassinggoogle will be arriving late which I took it as an opportunity to meet him for the first time.
One of the advice that she gave me that I must go to Steem Nest for newbie's guide on using Steemit not to mention that she also encourages me to buy more steem but not up to 200 SP because that there are some successful steemians in the local scene such as @purepinay were able to gather thousands of SP and she won't stop at gathering more. I must admit that it was a tall order since most of my post don't earn that much but I got to do what I got to do.
She also taught me about where do I get the sources for analysis from SteemSQL but then that it has subscription fees which I could not afford that much. I guess there will be a next time. As I talk about about it that I got the proverbial light bulb lights up in my head and I give her a suggestion of promoting the platform in UST (where I graduated from) since I remember that the school held college weeks and other events for which she said that it was a good idea; I guess that I will make a personal visit to my alma mater about it....
We were advised that we should go inside of the auditorium since @luvabi will soon have her presentation regarding the Steemit platform which I took some opportunity to take some groupie pics like this:
She also help the students about the student's concerns in the platform particularly with the approval of their account (I have to admit that I was really fortunate enough that my account was approved for a few hours last December which many people would want to be in my position though) which I admire her so much as a person despite of the little time of her hands though.
Now that it's her turn to take the stage in promoting the Steemit platform, giving opportunity for the student to earn from their talents and what they're passionate about as I and a few Steemians volunteered to distribute the fliers to the audience.
After @luvabi's presentation that another Steemian's took her turn for the Q&A portion as students were asking questions about the platform (These 2 were alumnus in UP)
And then he arrived:
When I approached him and gave him a handshake that I noticed that despite of his accomplishments, he is still a humble young man who wants to help people in going to the Steemit platform which I can't help but admire him more. (I personally thanking him for upvoting my comments of his posts which it helped me alot)
Although that I would love to spend more time with them but I have to take my leave because I have Bible study to attend with which I said my goodbyes to them, stating that it was nice knowing them and I hope that I will meet up with them in the future.
In the conclusion that the said event was a success as students have quipped up their interest for the platform and I hope that I will able to attend more event such as these in any day with an exception of Saturdays. This is @kuminga at UP Diliman campus over and out!
Cheers to you, I'm a fan of @surpassinggoogle so I had to stop by :)
Good luck to the Steem PH you are growing strong :)
I agree that I'm becoming a fan of him as well and I believe that we still have a lot more work to do in promoting the platform.
It was nice meeting you @kuminga, though I also had a hard time searching for your username. lol. As it sounds japanese, I search and search for the correct spelling. Until @luvabi posted the meet-up, there I got your username. haha..
See you on our next meet up, hopefully we won't get lost anymore..haha
I understand about this which a lot of people mistook my username for Japanese to the point that they thought that I was from another East Asian country. I will looking forward to see you in the future meetups!
Let's push that one in UST...got friends who graduated there, let's do this!
@immarojas
Let's do this! Let's bring Steemit to the home of the Growling Tigers!
It was great meeting you @kuminga!
As for this, minor correction- accumulate lots of sp and purchase steem using your sbds through the market. There is NO limit! 😊
Also great flier c/o @bearone. Glad you caught that 🙃 thanks to @greymonolith for printing them out!
It would be great to be able to support a student event also in UST!
Indeed I stand corrected, I have to write based of what I can remember which reminds me that more often that both my mother and 4th younger sister were kind of the grammar nazi thus I got criticized for my grammar (I have a odd habit of using past tense a lot) therefore I'm not surprised about it.
Regarding with the UST events that I have to make a visit (probably this coming week or next week perhaps) to get in touch with my old professors and other officials not to mention that there are also major event as well beside the college weeks that I've mention thus it will take some planning and coordination for in order make it successful.
UST and Mapua we got contacts...
@tiffanyanne is studying in mapua.
First meetup and so much turn up! Nice
Thank you so much and I have to admit that I didn't realized that I'm somewhat lost in there though...
@surpassinggoogle keeps doing a wonderful job ,, nice pictures here
Indeed that Terry did so well although that I'm concern that he overexert himself too much at that time. Speaking about the pictures that I'm glad that you like them even though that my level is not at par with my eldest sister nevertheless I'm truly grateful.
Good work great effort I like this post
Thank you so much and I'm also trying my very best in improving my craft as a blogger which I will never stop.
