The summer heat is at its hottest now in the afternoons since we're in the middle of the summer season. Instead of turning up the A/C, why not plan a beach escapade for you and your family? Here are some top picks my family and I enjoyed a few hours drive from the Metro.

1. Pico De Loro / Hamilo Coast

The best thing about our stay at Pico de Loro was the many options to explore. We lounged at the Beach Club, played on the Exclusive and non-Exclusive Beach, swam in all the pools at the Country Club and also watched some fishes swimming near the sandy shoreline. We stayed at a Condo booked via AirBnB and we brought our own food to heat or cook. We stayed 3 days and to maximize the one time Guest fees.

Read about the full details of our stay and Pico de Loro Guest Fees here.

2. Boracay de Cavite Day trip

My kids loved making sandcastles at Boracay de Cavite, while the sand was more gray than white, the texture was fine and excellent for sandcastles. The beach could use a cleanup but some shallow areas were good enough for swimming. The huts were available for affordable rental and we enjoyed our home-cooked lunch by the beach. Beach volleyball would have been nice to try at the beach, we did get to try flying our homemade kite but the wind was too strong.

3. Canyon Cove Day Trip

The beach at Canyon Cove was clear blue and the sand, brownish. My little ones couldn't make sandcastles but they enjoyed the beach and the pool so much. Their day trip wristlets come with meal stubs that we conveniently used at their restaurant for lunch. The next time we visit, I hope we can stay overnight and enjoy the facilities more.

4. Windward House at Tali Beach

Windward House is not easy on the pocket but it was a vacation my friends and I enjoyed with our kids. We had a pool all to ourselves and a beach with clear waters a short walk or drive away. In the night time, the caretakers setup an outdoor movie for us. The place had a mini playground and toys with playmats for kids to enjoy.

5. Azure Resort Man-made Beach

A beach in the middle of the city, Azure resort is a truly unique staycation. We booked a condo on Airbnb and even used a voucher/credits so our stay was entirely for free! We had to pay for the guest fees for the kids and enjoyed an afternoon of the white sand and artificial waves.

Which one do you think will you and your family try out this hot summer season?
