Philippines Curation Efforts - Featuring @OneRace

in #steemph6 years ago

One of the things @dandalion and I highlighted when we got invited to speak in a weekly meeting of Steemians from Cebu about the Importance of Communities is the benefit of having local support systems through curation. We are both pleased with the growing number of accounts specifically created to help build up curation for contents from the Philippines. Once a month, I will be featuring Philippines-based curation effort with these goals in mind:

  • Educate fellow Filipinos on available local support and their criteria.
  • Extend my support for these curation effort with 500 Steem Power for a period of 30 days.
  • Give additional boost to the upvotes by trailing the curation account's votes. This will vary in weight depending on the curation effort's voting behavior.
  • Show my support and appreciation for individuals/groups behind the curation effort.

Note: While I have delegation to the curation account, I wish to be not upvoted or featured by that account.

Please know that I am not claiming to be altruistic by doing this, the bigger portion of my Steem Power is still kept in my account to allow me to engage with the community, and some are delegated to communities that offers support through upvotes. The operators of these curation efforts are the ones selfishly dedicating much of their Steem Powers to help grow the Steemit community in the Philippines.

@OneRace Introduction

The curation account @onerace was announce a month ago. In their First Post they gave a brief introduction of what they are trying to do, and the specific type of contents they will be supporting:

"@onerace is a community account that empowers the culture and tradition published on the Steem blockchain. Our mission is to encourage and support blogs pertaining to Cultures and Tradition of nations."

"Our main focus is to empower "Filipino Cultures and Traditions", blogs that pertain to Philippines identity, history, artifacts, traditions, superstitions, and many more that has been part of Filipino Culture."

Based on this it looks like in the short to mid term, this account is going to be curating Filipino culture and tradition posts as a main focus, but with an intent to expand to the bigger community outside the Philippines as Steem Power gets accumulated.

Culture and Tradition is something close to my heart. My earliest contents in the platform were featuring our rich Filipino culture encouraged by @eroche's and @deanliu's #culturevulture. That coupled with the fact that the curation effort is currently focused around featuring contents produced in Philippines, @onerace is the perfect first project for this support. My delegation will stay with @onerace for a period of 30 days, and will be moved to another Filipino curation effort post that.

As my account grows in Steem Power, a tenth of my SP will always be delegated to curation efforts supporting Filipino contents.

First, thank you @steemitph for featuring this curation project. We truly appreciate the efforts made to broadcast this amazing initiative that we visualized. Thank you for the delegation, it will surely be much of help to support Filipino Culture and Tradition contents published on the Steem Blockchain. It is also true that we depend on the accumulated Steem Power to distribute the votes to a much wider community.

We're hoping this project will bring some extra efforts to encourage Steemians to published nation's culture and tradition. Personally, I'm very excited as to where this community account is heading to.

Regards,

Jass
