About a year from starting to trade in the local Philippine market I got so burned out from the crazy amount of screen time I was spending mostly secluded from the rest of the world. That followed by a series of huge drawdowns taught me a very important lesson.
"Whatever you do, regardless of your skills and dedication to your craft, there will always be downtime. So have a life outside of whatever it is you do; have time for family and friends, do well at the other things you do, pick up a hobby, or learn something new. This way you'll have something to sustain when downtime happens, and your journey becomes all the more meaningful."
On the day of the SteemPH Meet Up Caravan #1 - Bulacan, the 17th of February, there was another event that was equally if not more important for us as a family. Our @littlesteemitph had her first communion. We do not actively participate in church activities, and both @dandalion and I see that as an opportunity. Now that I think about this one of a very few times we've been inside a church together.
We had to be at the church by seven in the morning. We had to wake up at five thirty, have breakfast together, get the kids dressed, and fix their hairs. This too is an experience that does not happen too often, at least for me.
I work the UK time and typically wake up at ten in the morning local time during weekends. Weekends are the only real days when I can get more than six hours of sleep, but I would gladly trade a couple more hours of sleep for a chance to bond with the girls, on the day @littlesteemitph have been so excited about.
First Communion is an important ceremony in Christian tradition. This is the first time a Christian would receive the Eucharist which signifies that the believer takes full responsibility of his/her Christianity through the rite of passage.
Both @dandalion and I went to Catholic schools, and it sure didn't take much time to decide that the kids will do the same. Often however, we pretty much leave the teachings about faith to the institution, and haven't really taken time to do our part.
The day of Sam's First Communion was also a wake up call for us both. We now plan to go to church and hear mass as a family more often. The church where the First Communion was held is a really good option to build up on going to church as often as we can. The structure is beautifully built, and have ample parking space. It is also not as big as a cathedral or basilica which means that the ceremony will be solemn and intimate.
We do pretty much everything as a family. After Sam's First Communion, we went out to eat, headed home for a couple of hours rest, and started preparing for SteemPH Meet Up Caravan #1 - Bulacan where we met all the amazing Bulacan-based Steemians shown in the photo.

Love to see you all I hope caravan is successful and you enjoy it 👌🏻👍🏻
Couldn't agree more on this:
While it is tempting, maybe even addictive, to always be glued on our screens, there should always be that balance of living the actual world and not just the virtual world.
I'm sure your kid was happy you were there for a momentous event in her religious life. 👍
To kids religious upbringing is quite important and i think u did right. Respect🙇♂️
inspite of busy schedules.. family still comes first! I salute you sir.

I will also make sure my kids will have a memorable 1st Communion. It is an important milestone for every Catholic.
