Getting rid of clutter is not an easy task.
Learning how to get rid of clutter is a learning process. We hear of different ways of taking on the idea and think to ourselves how it'll all work out so well. The reality is, most of the time, that's not the case.
Often our moods switch from, let's save this sentimental thing, to fed up and wanting to throw everything out. Thankfully, there is a happy medium for controlling a clutter problem. Keeping in mind the amount of time you actually have to dedicate to a task can really help you to distinguish between stored items from clutter.
Making Time To Get Rid Of Clutter
Most of us have pretty busy lives. Between family life, work and commuting time, that doesn't leave a whole lot of extra time. This is not even accounting for kids, school, hobbies, or any other activity that you may have obligated your time to.
A lot of times we hold on to things with the idea that one day in the future, we'll somehow have time to use them. That one day soon becomes years later and the item becomes long forgotten. Until one day when you stumble upon it and you get excited about it. But you don't have the time then, so you hold on to it because you'll have time and another set of umpteen years.
If you're holding on the things for this very reason, it's classic clutter and you need to get rid of it. The idea of tossing it may not easy, but you'd be surprised how quickly you'll get over it. It's probably not that important if you haven't thought about the item in several years.
Lastly, you have to ask yourself what you're willing to change in your current lifestyle. You'll need to change something that'll give you the time you don't currently have to spend on this thing. Keeping this in mind and being true to yourself as you go through your garage, closet, attic, or spare room will help to rid yourself of clutter. Doing this will give you more time to focus on the things that you enjoy doing instead of things that you could be doing.
