Why Do Pimples Develop On The Face More Than Rest Of The Body?

Have you ever wonder why do pimples develop on our face more than the rest of our body? To start off, most acne is caused by abrasions, debris or even bacteria that inflames our pores. In addition, hormones also cause some of our skin to increase oil production. This makes the skin more likely to pick up abrasive things.

Acne creation

Most of the acne found on our face is caused by bacteria entering a follicle and infecting that pore. Hence, areas, where you have more acne than any other places, indicates that there are more bacteria there which are causing the pimples! Another reason this may occur is that of the many oil glands in the face. The oil clogs pore causing the bacterias to flourish and grow since there is no oxygen going into that area. The bacterial growth translates to pimples surfacing! Hence, this is also why all typical acne medication work by (1) killing the bacteria and (2) has a peeling agent which aid in the removal of dead skins

To many researchers, the result of bacteria benefitting or repelled by the increased oils remained a mystery to them. However, many of these acne forms on our face are because our face skin is particularly prone to oil production from hormonal changes.

Dairy Consumption might cause pimples

On a side note, many studies have also claimed that dairy consumption is linked to hormonal changes which cause acne. Food like whey and casein release a hormone called IGF-1, which is commonly known to cause breakouts. So make sure to do a check with your dermatologist to see if cutting down away dairy from your diet will help with your skin conditions.

In summary, the reason why we have pimples on our face more than the rest of the body is that we have a greater density of sebaceous glands on the face. Furthermore, the skin is complex, varying greatly between different sites and responds differently to hormones.
