Love it!
If this kind of building was advanced in West Africa, the energy crisis would be cut in half. The material (mud and mud bricks) are perfect for the ecosystem and virtually infinitely available. They keep the interior cool even when the temperature outside skyrockets. No need for air-conditioning, e.t.c., and contrary what one might think, they actually outlast "modern" bricks and concrete in that climate. Sadly what you get in West Africa now are brick and concrete homes that are copied from European style of building, which simply delapedate quickly under the West African climate.

I'm not saying this exact hut, but the technology and materials. I hear there are some parts in Mali and Northern Ghana that are experimenting with reverting to this style of building - but in a modern way. Excited to see what happens with that.

Good point, Ade! I agree, each region should keep those traditional architecture that is built with regional materials, which often suits the climate better than the modern ones.

Wow.
It's lovely to see these kind of places still exist, this was how we used to live before the first colonizers came through. Everything was easier and peaceful.
These kinds of settlements are hard to come by these days, even my mom's villages now have brick houses and tar roads.

That's not totally true. There were some large cities already in West Africa pre-colonial period. Look up Ile-Ife and Benin in present day Nigeria. There was also Nok, Timbuktu and Sokoto, all with mud-brick structures and stone paved roads.

Thank you for pointing that out, I must have generalized the whole thing.

I want to visit Benin, heard it's really nice!

I see, where are you based?

Port Harcourt, Rivers State/Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
