This is amazing @seanytan! Finland's definitely doing it right. I hope other countries can follow, too. 😊

Yep! I think nordic countries are the first in line for such initiatives!

That's brilliant @seanytan. I wish they did that in the UK.

We used to be able to get money back on glass bottles when I was a kid so we used to ride around on our bikes looking for them. Those days are long gone sadly. 😢

You can still get recycle money in the US. You can sell aluminum, plastic and glass buy the pound. And there is usually a deposit on glass and plastic you can get back also but the straight up scrap cost is usually better. One 55 gallon trash bag of aluminum cans usually gets about $20 and one bag of plastic gets about $8.

do you have to drive far to sell it to someone?
In Singapore we do have it but more of it's actually seen as a 'lower job' by collectors

There are lots of places around here. Plus its California so everyone has a car haha. Lots of offices, stores, etc collect recycling and someone takes in once a month or so. But there are also lots of homeless that rummage through trash and take in what they find.

Thats cool! Singapore should definitely do this to get people to recycle more. Even though we're called a "green city" we're not really that green unfortunately :(

In Singapore, people don't care about the environment... You buy 5 items and get 7 plastic bags. And when you say you want just ONE bag, they look at you like you were weird. :( Madness.

HAHAHA we're too used to self service of unlimited bags at NTUC. The incentive of bring your own bag and 10 cents is not enough to make Singaporeans' eyes sparkle.
We need more savings!!!! I'm still quite guilty of taking many plastic bags myself when i forget to bring my own :/
