Entomology is a science that studies insects, including the study of some crustaceans, myriapods, arthropods, arachnids and other species. The root of this word comes from Greek entomos meaning insect and logos meaning science.
Entomology is a discipline of ancient dating, since since ancient times the human being has used insects for their benefit, but it was not until the sixteenth century with William Kirby when they began the study of entomology as a discipline.
William Kirby is considered the father of entomology, since in collaboration with William Spence he published an encyclopedia on this science Introduction to Entomology, which is considered as the fundamental text of this discipline.
In recent times this science has expanded to different specialties and already has a large stock of all kinds of insects. It has covered different specialties such as economic or applied entomology, which is responsible for the study of insects from a human interest perspective, for example products such as honey, wax or others that benefit the human being; insect transmitters of diseases and that have also served for the advancement of medicine; insects that have served as pest controllers to make crops more chemical-free.
In addition, there is a forensic entomology that is responsible for studying those insects that are housed in the corpses and thus determine the time of death.
There is also the ethnoentomology which is a branch of ethnobiology, which is responsible for investigating the use given by communities or cultures to insects for health care and crops.
As I said before, the investigation came after approaching the stand. There I took some photos of some insects. Here the photos:
