With my experience drinking Chamisal, this is a great wine for those who wish to avoid the classic oaky Chardonnay flavor. Some winemakers tend to overdo it with the heavy oak, partly not their fault because the grapes do take on the soil composition and characteristics, but come on!!! Hasn't viticulture come a long way??? Round those flavors out!! It is amazing the response you get when you offer a guest Kendall Jackson Chardonnay (notorious for that oaky, buttery flavor). Just watch how their face puckers up in disgust!!!
