Have you looked into Maidsafe, it may have benefits over IPFS for this project? There are multiple redundancies for files that are split out through the p2p network. Won't be long before they move out of alpha

Yes, I have. There are many projects out there trying to solve storage/distribution problems, MaidSafe being one of them. There is also Swarm, Filecoin, Storj, Sia, Decent, etc etc.
IPFS is a nice building block, and it gives us a lot of flexibility to build on top. It is also something that is already somewhat usable today, and a good starting point. I would like to be as pragmatic as possible, and if someone solves a hard problem for us, I am definitely interested.
