We all love Silver - assuming you are in the steemitsilvergold group of course!
If you are not and you have just discovered the world of precious metals you are in for a treat.
Because silver is AMAZING!
Here are 3 reasons why I think silver is so great.
1). Silver is so cheap right now!
At $17.24/oz (at the time of writing this post) and a silver:gold ratio of 77:1 silver is very much undervalued. Over the last 5 years silver has been devalued against gold. In 2013 the Silver:Gold ratio was 52:1 which means you can get 25 oz more silver for the same amount of money you would spend on gold. That is quite a difference.
But why does that make it so great? Well it means that if you want to play the ratio game, silver is your go-to metal at the moment. When the ratio drops you can convert it into gold. So you can actually use your silver to buy your gold in advance. If you are stacking for 25 years time, it is well worth playing the ratio game as you can double, triple even quadruple your stack in this time without having to spend anything along the way!
Silver used to be elusively for the rich. Historically silver coins were high value and out of reach of most people. Even when they had them they had to spend them to live rather than stacking. Today we can buy an oz of silver for the equivalent of a movie ticket and a box of popcorn. The mind boggles.
2). Silver is incredibly versatile - there is something for everyone!
I don't think there has been a time in history where, we the people, have had so much choice when buying silver. There is so much out there to chose from. Poured silver is my passion so I am a little biased but simply put you can have anything made. Where there is a will there is a way. Whether you want a special heart, a simple bar or a more complicated 3D statue there is something for everyone.
We are also spoilt for choice when it comes to coins as well. Again to be able to buy a 1 oz silver coin which has been made to absolute perfection by a mint with amazing designs for only a few $ above spot is amazing. To be able to collect sets of amazing artwork as well as save money for the future and stack is a real treat.
And once again there are so many coins, mints, designs and sets to collect. When I started stacking it was very hard to choose what coins to collect and which ones not to collect!
3). It is one of the most useful metals in the world - which is why it will be here for a long long time.
Silver is an incredible metal. It has some amazing properties and facts - do you know them all? Silver has the highest electrical and thermal conductivity of ALL metals. Even beating Gold. Silver has antibacterial properties and can also kill fungi and algae. It is used in water purification and can be woven into bandages and clothing to prevent or hinder infections.
Silver also fuels out modern world. There is silver in nearly every single circuit board/mobile phone/computer in the world.
It also looks amazing - there is nothing quite like having silver in the palm of your hand and staring into the beauty of it's silvery/white colour.
I love it - I imagine if you are reading this then you like it too!

The ratio is so out of wack, hopefully will come back in the next few years when I have a few more kg's
It does seem exceptionally high at the moment. It will be good for those who have the space to stack large amounts of silver!
I play the ratio game, although mine is set at 40 to 1, there will be a correction, when? I have no idea but rest assure I will be ready. Good post buddy.
I don't actively play the ratio game - but I have a lot of silver that I will exchange up for gold when the time comes! Thanks for the upvote and support my friend - greatly appreciated!
It's shiny!
It's durable!
And, it Has value!
(However, I don't like gold very much)
Thanks - I feel the same way about silver!
Silver has held up as one of the most versatile metals on earth. From jewelry to industry nothing can compare. It's the most undervalued and manipulated metal also. Still my favorite metal.
I agree with all your points! I love giving it as gifts, because you are giving a tangible asset that is vastly undervalued. One day it could pay for college or a house, when the manipulation finally fails.
