RE: Why do you steemit?

I'm here because I'm tired of typical social media, especially facebook which I don't know why I haven't just stopped using altogether. It's the only way I keep up with a few people who I don't really keep in touch with otherwise.

But back to steemit...yeah obviously the rewards lured me in like many, but as I learned more about it I discovered little sub communities like SSG, a group of runners, people who like yoga, photographers, travelers, artists, and many other.

I've been hooked on this platform ever since I joined in July 2017 and if it weren't for my demanding day job I'd spend a lot more time here. I loaded up on STEEM back in the fall when it was $0.80-1.50 and despite some jitters back in November about the long term viability of the price and the platform, I now realize this may have been one of the best decisions I've ever made (to join, to blog, to earn, to interact, etc).

With the SBD price being what it is even with modest payouts it translates into a pretty good sized payout in terms of USD. That and the curation rewards which are smaller now because of the SBD price phenomenon.

I hope that someday blogging here will help supplement my income to the point where I don't have to sell my soul to the corporate American devil 40-60 hours a week in exchange for a decent living. I see a lot of potential here. My time is limited and precious but I never see time spent here as wasted, no matter the return on it.
