Pocket coin challenge - LAS VEGAS: CASINO / VEGAS STRIP / SILVERTOWNE TO SILVER CITY

in #steemsilvergold7 years ago

The Silvertowne Prospector "Poker Chip" is my Pocket Coin Challenge Partner for my visit to Las Vegas.

Poker Chip Prospector Makes Trip to Vegas

pocketvegas0a.jpg
This coin is minted by Silvertowne Mint in Winchester, Indiana and the actual name is the SilverTowne Stackables™ Trademark Prospector 1oz .999 Silver Medallion.

My normal, every day carry coin is an American Silver Eagle; however, the "Poker Chip" appearance of the Silvertowne Prospector Stackable was too perfect for the trip to Las Vegas.

SILVERTOWNE TO SILVER CITY

pocketvegas12.jpg
The Silvertowne Poker Chip toured the Silver City and found more GOLD than Silver. The Las Vegas Strip was an extraordinary visit for the Poker Chip. However, none of the shops in the Miracle Mile Shops accepted the Poker Chip as money. They thought it was counterfeit because they had never heard of the Silvertowne Casino. I explained to them that Silvertown is a silver mint not a casino, but they still wanted fiat currency.
pocketvegas11.jpg
As @welshstacker has been saying, it's a shame that silver dollars are not accepted as currency. I suspected that "Silver City" (Las Vegas) would know a little bit about the silver. It was not meant to be. They only wanted to exchange fiat currency for their casino chips and vice versa.
pocketvegas13.jpg
The Bellagio Buffet restaurant did not accept the Silvertowne Poker Chip either, maybe I should have tried it at one of the fast food joints like @welshstacker is doing.

CASINO DOES NOT ACCEPT SILVER POKER CHIP / SILVER CASINO CHIP

pocketvegas5.jpg
The Cashier at the Cosmopolitan Casino did not exchange the Silvertowne Poker Chip. Furthermore, the Silvertowne Poker Chip could not be used in ANY of the gaming machines. Even in the Monopoly game wanted fiat currency rather than real silver.

Well, I also could not use the casino chips from the Bellagio Casino at the Ceasars Palace Casino, so I guess each casino only accepts their own chips.

NO FUN FOR YOU POKER CHIP - SO JUST SIGHT SEEING

Since the Poker Chip could not play any of the Las Vegas games, we just toured the Vegas Strip and enjoyed the sites. Here are some more pictures.

pocketvegas10.jpg

The Poker Chip did not show very well in most pictures . . . it was blurry and would not smile or shine due the the lack of accepance in Silver City. . . .

Here are the pics anyways. . .

Awesome pics, Dude! Good to see the #pocketcoinchallenge making a comeback!

Vegas is looking as awesome as ever. Have fun!

It was @fat-elvis posting about travel to D.C. and @welshstacker posting about not being able to use silver dollars that made me want to put up a post about travel to Vegas. Thanks guys for still posting the pocket coin challenge. I'm glad you liked the pics and I had a blast. I was off steemit for several days last week.

One day guys, we will hold a #steemsilvergold conference and make Vegas the location?? I'll grab as much silver as I can carry from @pit-bullion, clear out the casinos, find some 1964 dollars and then happily fly back home.

Sound like a plan you want in on?

@goldkey that's OK we will accept Silver here in steemsilvergold. We Don't need any of those FIAT Joker's anymore........

I know that's right - you guys KNOW the real value of Silver.
We had fun with the sights and the casino was willing to give me more fiat than I gave them :)

it had to be a poker chip round. cant think of a better tour guide round! ;)

This is the most appropriate silver round that I have... The only other coin I wish I had for a Pocket Coin Challenge to Las Vegas Nevada would be a Morgan Dollar from Carson City, Nevada

A very beautiful coin. It would be a pity there was such a loss in the casino

Thanks, it is beautiful. I put it in the capsule to protect it while we were traveling. I need to post a picture with it outside of the capsule to show its complete beauty. I am glad it came home with me and the casino wasn't smart enough to accept it.

I have a 20 stack of the stackable Silvertowne Prospector coins. I think they should all be made that way. Hope you enjoyed your visit and got home with more $s than you left with.

That's fantastic that you have that many of these coins. I also think they should be all made this way. Silvertowne has switched the 'stackables' to be less like this poker chip with about 36 raised/lowered sections. The new 'stackables' are more like gears with teeth. I like this older type.
We had a great time and got back home safe and sound after LoTs and lOts and LOts of TuRbuLanCe on the flights home, and we left with more fiat $$ that we gave :)

Left with few $s more, that's great! I don't know if I ever mentioned that in my working days I was Director of Casino Surveillance. I always tried to tell people how to enjoy there time in the casino and at worse only leave what you planned to lose and at best go home with a little more than you left with.

I think I saw your 'working days' role sometime ago. I thought that was interesting in how many characters you must have seen and how much chaos you must have observed.
Great words of advice on enjoyment at the casino.

Great post... I remember Vegas...and winning enough to pay on the slots for my sons wedding reception!

That sounds like a killing at the slots. Some days in Vegas, there's winning all around and some days you can barely get a winning bell. I can say that I usually leave with a souvenir and some extra cash.

You are right about some days winning all around and some days nothing. You can walk into a casino and just tell weather it's a good day to play or not. If you don't hear the sound of winning it is better to go to next casino or wait for another day.

This is SO true and I didn't realize it until this recent time in Vegas. We were winning in a particular casino and not very much at all in others on previous visits. This time, we couldn't win at all in that same particular casino, but we were winning elsewhere.
Is it Luck? Probability? Manipulation? Statistical? Fate? Who knows? . . . but I learned this lesson that you mention.... if it doesn't sound like winning... go next door or wait until tomorrow.

maybe i was just lucky...simple approach..I can afford to lose $20...=80 quarters..so no more than 3 in any machine... if I win I put in separate container that is never touched..statistically at 97% paymout there is a good chance you may be ahead after 80 shots...once i went through the 80 that was it... won every night except one (bad night only $14 in winning tub )... but every other night ahead...and a mega win the night before then wedding...

Happy New Year my Friend...hope you have a wonderful New Year...click picture to view video...

You got some exercise that day lol. Nice tour of my home town ,👍

Thanks, this was a quick run about town. I knew I'd be in and out of Vegas quickly, so I had to make good use of my time. In the 84 hours that I had, I also rented a car and spent 24 hours in San Bernardino, California. Since I had a car, we got around a bit more. Next time, we'll rent a car again and do more. Stay tuned as I have some other pics that are some other spots around town.
@pit-bullion, I did not realize you were in Vegas; otherwise, I would have tried to pick up some of your silver. I've been following you since you joined and your poured silver is awesome. I like the pit-bullion logo a lot. Do you have a physical location / store? If so, I'll stop in next time.

I actually work from home but next time your in town let me know. We can set something up maybe pour a bar or two

Making me want to travel with my pocket coin, only 5 months to go..

YUP! Bring the coin along and snap a few pics and have some fun :)

What's the worth of pocket chain coin???
Is it expensive??

This particular coin is one ounce of silver and it is worth about $20USD. The actual name is SilverTowne Stackables™ Trademark Prospector 1oz .999 Silver Medallion and it was available on their website and also in local coin shops. It is sold out now and it is somewhat rare today.

My fav to carry around is a silver town Psalm 23 round.

I have a couple of those too. Great to have Silver and Bible Verses.
