My French silver coins cover most decades in the 20th century so lets have a look ! On January 22 1901 Britain's Queen Victoria (1837-1901) dies at age 81 , after 63 years The Royal Mail stops sale of Queen Victoria postage stamps series and begins the King Edward VII series . Gustave Whitehead claims to have achieved the first powered flight, in his Number 21 plane on August 14 1901 . Today's coin was minted in Paris France in 1901 of 83.5 %silver . It weighs 2.5 grams and is 18 mm in diameter . It had a mintage of 4,960,000 .
The obverse shows La Semeuse(The Sower) wearing a phrygian cap with the sunrise behind her and surrounded by the lettering REPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE .

Thank you for your continued support of SteemSilverGold

I must confess that old French coins don't make my heart beat as an old British coin does.

By early next week I hope to make you smile Ron !!!

Are these available in crown size? A very nice design both obverse and reverse.

In this style ss I think only 1/2 ,1, 2, and 5 francs and the 50 centimes of course !!
