Is Gordon Brown a Traitor to the UK

gb1.jpg

In 1999, at the bottom of the gold market, Gordon Brown, then chancellor of the exchequer in the UK announced two things.

  • That he was selling 400 tonnes of the UK's gold reserves

  • The exact date he was going to do this

This, of course, was about the most stupid thing an economist could do as it allowed the banks to coordinate to ensure a low price. Or perhaps 'stupid' is the wrong word.

'Corrupt' might be a better term, for the £6 billion UK taxpayers lost was gained by the big banks. So what is the solution?

I suggest we need politicians with spine. Gordon Brown should be imprisoned for the rest of his life and the Gold should be forcibly repurchased at the same rate. If the banks refuse, their management, from before and now, should be imprisoned until every penny plus interest and a hefty fine is repaid in full.

So who do I vote for to facilitate this?
