What's up everyone,
So I know some of you think I'm a one horse show but I'm here to tell ya it ain't so π I'm actually capable of more than just awesome hand poured bars π I have a few customers from way back, when I did Gold Gilding of Coins and Bars. They still send stuff every now and then. This is actually how I made my bones in the precious metals community. So I decided to give ya a little behind the scenes look at how it all goes down.
The first bath I set the coin in is a cleaning agent. It's pretty much some crazy chemicals that react when you run the right current of electricity through it. Foams up like crazy tho. I gotta watch what I'm doing lol
Next off it's time for an acid bath. This doesn't require any electricity, just needs to sit in there for a while to prime it for gold plating.
Last stop the gold solution. This is actually a mix of distilled water, cyanide and Gold that is broken down to ions in the solution. When I run the electrical current through the ions stick to the coin like a magnet thus gold plating the coin. I do need to wear proper safety gear for this part as Cyanide Gas is released into my work space. One whiff of that and Pit Bullion would be a goner very quickly.
After the plating is done I let them dry, capsule them up and package them with the Pit Bullion Gold Gilded COA.
Don't forget to look at my epic last post. If you love silver and you love steemit it's for you! Check it out via this link: https://steemit.com/steemsilvergold/@pit-bullion/raffle-steembar-prototype
Hope you guys enjoyed the show π and have a great day!
Wow thatsso cool ! πβππ°π°π°
Very cool of you to share π I absolutely love my guilded items π Thats a nice order right there!
This is really cool Pit! I never knew how they did this, but it is interesting. About how much gold does it take to plate a coin like this?
30 bucks. Plated, Capsuled and shipped back
Thanks for checking it out man.
If this were the olympics you just scored a 10! Cool post!
Haha! Thanks Dixie!
nice work, i wanna learn how to do reverse electroplating to remove gold plating.
It's not hard but hardly worth it. In less you have a ton of stuff
nice post!!
I never thought that gold plating was like this. I only did not like the Cyanide part. Isn't any other way without the gas ? You said that it costs $30 to plate, encapsule and send back but did not tell us how much gold is there in a plated coin. Is that an industrial secret ?
Yeah but the other ways are garbage. I'm really not sure how much goes on there. It's just plating so not much that's for sure.
this is really interesting. Learnt something new today. Do you have a dtube video of this process?
Not on dtube. I've done it on YT a couple times
Looks very cool. All them things with liquid though not for me. I will leave that up to the professional you lol. Thanks for sharing.
Yeah, its definitely nothing to play around with lol
It's cool to see your lab!
You just might have to plate one of those 10Z Steem rounds, i see a super awesome gold raffle in the future π
Thanks for sharing this - I'm going to have to find something to get gold plated.
Are you going to show the blackening process?
This week, I'm waiting for the coin from the mint that I want you to blacken. It is literally getting pressed this week.
I'm a little more secretive over that blackening process these days lol. Probably wont be showing that.
I thought I saw a previous message about keeping that process more secretive. That's cool. When I get my coin, probably next week, I look for you on discord.
Really interesting to see how the gilding is done! Thanks for sharing this process with us :)
Thanks for taking a look man π
Science .... and gold. For some reason I thought it was way more complicated. Nicely done and thanks for sharing :):):)
Not too difficult. Just need to be careful and have the know how.
I cannot wait to meet you Pit! All this stuff is like Jack $ Meg (White) never broke up β οΈβ οΈβ οΈ
You will be in the Pit Bullion laboratory soon my friend
Yo pit, can you plate silver on aluminum?
Two words. Bad. Ass.
Hell yeah!
