Part 3 of 4 of my gold stack posts is all about gold kook's
In 2009 the Australian Kookaburra celebrated its 20th anniversary and the Perth Mint Released a 20 coin set in both Silver & Gold.
These 5 Coins are from one of those sets that a dealer was splitting up.
The Kookaburra is one of the most-collected Australian coins.
Over the years, gold Kookaburras have been very few and far between.
Making this set a must-have for collectors of the silver coins.
None of these, gold proofs can be found anywhere else.
They can only be found in the special p20 sets.
Each coin bears the P20 mint mark on the obverse, to mark this landmark anniversary and with a low mintage of only 2009 sets they pretty rare, but actually they even rarer than that.

Perth Mint didn't sell all the sets they only sold 1,219 sets
They could go on to mint the rest (up to the 2009 sets) at some point. You just don't know.
I'll talk a bit about that in the last post about my gold stack.
So as it stands they pretty rare as sets, never mind loose.
I was lucky to pick these up and it was after seeing the @shadowstack vid on youtube (as he'd picked up a set), that I even knew they existed. but I cannot afford a whole set, they are not cheap and 1oz of gold is a bit to much for my pocket still, never mind back when i bought these.
So Imagine my excitement, when I saw the set up for auction seperately.
Even better I picked them up at real good prices and I selected these 5 coins out, as I feel the designs are good.
Seriously if told you how much I paid for these coins you'd think I was lieing.
So I won't, but i did have to pay a bit more for one than all the others. but that will come last. Always save the best to last.
Naw.... it's the coin on the Top (below)
check it out
A 2008 Spiders web kookaburra in gold
It don't get any better than this design.
Such a great coin in silver, but in gold it's totally awesome.
I will find real hard to part with these coins.
For sure, they will be one of the last coins I'd sell.
All the Coins have the same reverse so I only really need to show you that once and we will save that till last.
1991 kook design
1998 Design
2002 design
2009 aniversery coin design
All great coins but one stands out IMO and thats the 2008
One more look I think before we see Queenie.
I hope you all enjoyed reading this post, as much as i did creating it, being the 3rd part of a four part series of posts on my Gold stack. Only 1 more to go.

Really great set man. I super dig the spider’s web kook — it’s a hard one to get.
😎👍
Thx, yeah it's the star of the set. That one cost me just over £60 exactly 2 years ago today all the rest between £45 and £50. even then they was all cheaper than you could buy a lunar monkey.
...ugh, it’ll prob just get more expensive 😳😜😎👍
True, although I not selling it... ever. One thing I do know in life, that's never say never.
I don't know why but I didn't like the Kookaburra series. I am changing my mind after seeing these beauties above. Exquisite coins!
I Really do like the kooks, although I don't back collect series, I have quite a few of the most recent coins from 2016 and love the 10 oz coins, shame they stopped doing the 2oz size as well. But these gold ones are little gems.
