Hey guys I'm looking for some feedback and discussion regarding how we want to see the bot voting.
I have two questions I want feedback on so please read close and leave a comment
This will not be a full post with a second chance post since I really want feedback on the voting procedure
My hope was to vote the #steemsilvergold tag and cross reference that the membership list, but the tag/category feature on the bot I am using doesn't seam to be working. Due to this I started just voting for everyone that I followed all the time but that turned out to be way too many votes in a day and I think I needed to drop the weight down to 10% to keep up. I was voting on a lot of photography posts from some members with only one or two photos and negligible content. The bot has a built in feature to vote on "quality content". It has some sort of algorithm that determines a certainly word threshold and a word to photo/links/videos ratio, and doesn't cast votes on those posts. I did discuss this change in this post here , but never got a lot of discussion if people were okay with it, so I just kept the voting like that.
I have been watching and it does seam to miss about 20% of the posts made in the #steemsilvergold tag. A few do seam to be good quality posts to me(and I try to manually vote them when I find them, but other are just single photos or a link to a YouTube video.
I am still going to try to work out my first plan, and my next step is to try the keyword feature and I will request that everyone uses #steemsilvergold somewhere in the body of your post. I am going to see if the bot will detect it that way and that will be our secret code to get the vote. Lets just hope that it works.
In the mean time I want to have some feedback if everyone is okay with using the "quality post" algorithm, or if people want me to go back to voting on every post at a lower weight. If you do find that I have missed your post feel free to drop the link in the comments here and I will definitely head over and cast a vote manually next time I am around.
My second questions in regarding weighted votes and adding support levels
I have gotten some feedback from members, especially with the lease coming that they are disappointed that not everyone is supporting the bot equally. So far I have just asked that everyone try to throw a 100% daily upvote at me to help with growth (this does work and I am part of the @make-a-whale account which has been very successful). Unfortunately this has not been happening and some of those people are getting regular votes from botty. Others have been going over and above with no additional reward at all. Some have sent delegations and donations to the account just for the goodness of their heart. I am starting a steemvoter account for this bot and will start adding some higher weight votes to some early supporters. This was discussed in this post yesterday and once again I did not receive any objections so I have proceeded with the weights discussed in that post.
Do people like adding different options for support that would get you a higher amount of the total vote
I would have to play with all the actual vote weights but maybe 3-4 levels. Something like this.
1% vote for just being in the group but not contributing.
10% if you commit to voting all botty's post at 100%
25% If you send x amount of donation to a lease or delegate x amount.
50% if you send x (higher) amount of donation to a lease or delegate x(higher) amount.
That's it for today guys, I really want feedback how everyone wants to see this used to help us all grow and benefit.
Of course this isn't everything we should be doing and only one tool, we do need to be directly supporting each other and please check out @raybrockman 's post HERE about that very thing
We must all also go right in our vote for our very own witness @guiltyparties, once he starts getting up on the list he will really be able to support us on. Voting for witness is free and super easy there is no excuses guys!

How 'bout members "call" the bot to good posts?
Just like how you can call @originalworks bot to your own post, members could include "@silverbotty" in their comments to add a level of "hey look at this" to the bot. For each use of "silverbotty" the group could decide which posts have the cuisine that reigns supreme, and thus, receive the heavier upvote.
This would be a great idea too. It would take a whole rebuild though, it's not something the current build would work with and way beyond my ability.
The @OriginalWorks bot has determined this post by @silvergoldbotty to be original material and upvoted it!
To call @OriginalWorks, simply reply to any post with @originalworks or !originalworks in your message!

I think that it should be on quilty post. I also think that as a group if we supported each other then the bot would be an extra bonus. I also think that we need to go through the membership list and clean it up. If they are on our list and are not making at least one post a week about precious metals, then they need to be removed. I am sure that we have some dead memebers. Then most of all we need to vote each others post. The @silvergoldbotty us a great tool, but if you dont support it, then it should support you. Man I could go on and on, we need each others support, we need comments. Most if all we need to help the new members. This is my take on support the bot and be support by the bot. Guys and gals its real simple here is how you support the bot

Fuck yeah Ray!
Upvote our bot! She's hot! And...
we've got a fucking robot upvoting our content -- has there ever been anything cooler?
Damn Right Ray! This bot is just a bonus and we all do need to support and vote for each other.
well, my friend. i never wrote a post about pm's. what you describe doesn't include curators.
This would be for new memebers. Those that are already known by the community would be excluded. You are one if the first ones in the group..
"If they are on our list and are not making at least one post a week about precious metals, then they need to be removed."
If you do that then I am out. I am lucky to write 1 post a week anyway. While I have a sincere interest in precious metals I don't write a lot about them on steemit except in comments (I am basing my content here on crypto primarily). I think as soon as you start excluding people and setting boundaries to keep people out you are closing it off to new people and it will fail.
There needs to be policy to stop the bot being exploited by abusers, but otherwise keep it open to people who are interested in PMs.
Good point, and I know there are some memebers like that, but I don't see you abusing the bot. Once the word gets out that we have a bit with a good upvote strength then a lot more will try and join, and then the real abuse starts.
I'm not sure how a bot can distinguish what is and is not a quality post, but what I think should definitely be excluded is the following:
Yes, those you mentioned are excluded. As for cheetah, I'll have to take a look if I can add that feature.
Here's what I think.
Regarding voting levels: those are a good idea but will be difficult to maintain. If someone sends 10 SBD today and then does nothing, including does not actively participate in the community or support the bot with upvotes for the next 12 months, you'd be wasting your VP on them at 50% that entire time. If you re-calculate the levels regularly then it'll work but you'll have to code that in, which isn't that simple of an algorithm to tweak.
Regarding 100% voting: That's not doable unfortunately. One way to fix the issue the bot's been having is to have voting take place at intervals and should multiple posts be made by the same author in that interval, the vote can be broken up accordingly. Another way is to think of the bot as a curation-for-profit bot and have it upvote at the 30 minute mark with the weight adjusted to fit with maximum bot profits. That's not great for the sakes of the community unfortunately. The last way I'm thinking is to do what randowhale does, and cut the bot off at a set point to let it cool down.
Yeah, I think the voting levels would likely just be for the lease and change every 4 weeks. I don't like the idea of having to police who is voting and supporting on a regular basis.
I think voting on quality content from members at a low level is solid because many active members of #steemsilvergold have pretty broad and far ranging interests other than PMs and it's cool to support those folks in their other hobbies that don't necessarily involve silver or gold.
I also think the 3-4 levels of vote weight are solid for differing levels of contribution/delegation.
And I wrote in @guiltyparties for witness a day or 2 ago! Hoping to see him make that list soon!
Thanks for the feedback man, I think we may proceed with some different voting levels, but I think i'll put that out again in tomorrows post.
I also think it should be on of the content of a post. Its a hard one because there are so things you can do.
Different levels would be a yes. How the split them, im not sure!!
Would i can offer the group is help to arrange the levels through the group's Discord server. Me, @phelimint and @guiltyparties can all adjust members roles on the channel. This means we can have different membership levels displayed so each member will know where they are. We could also keep a membership list there and i might look into a registration for the bot to make sure new member's are committed to the group before getting upvotes. Pheli can PM me whens all been sorted and i'll make whatever changes are needed.
Thanks, It seams like the quality post feature was pretty clear but we will have to look more on the voting levels.
This is all ab bit outside my level of expertise but I do think the overriding criteria should be driven by quality and effort applied.
How do I know if I'm actually a member of #steemsilvergold even though I use the tag to post and comment quite regularly?
Other bots just go from the bots "Following" list which is manually managed. Groups like Team Australia have a loose application process too (to make sure you are legit) before you get accepted, announced and put on the bot upvote lists.
We have a discord channel and i will update it to have a membership list that will be updated from the bot. I can do this manually every week. You can also check the bot following list. The bot picks from members that are active within the group and using the tag. I not sure if content is factored in atm.
Your a member man, and thanks for all the support. We are continuing with the quality post feature.
I like the "quality content" feature. A simple video link isn't much effort into steemit I think.
#steemsilvergold in the body of the post and title maybe should be mandatory for a vote?
Quality posts deserve quality votes. I agree.
Yeah, the quality post has clearly been the favorite. As for only voting the silver content it just doesn`t seam like an option withe the current bots build.
I'm gonna vote for whatever u wanna do Pheli, you're the master of this project and putting the time in to help us lowly stackers. I'll upvote 100 % and send the bot $ from time to time regardless of what it gets me. Keep up the good work!
2nd
3rd -- although i agree, a title and a photo does not a good post make.
Thanks for your support man! I do want everything to be transparent though and want everyone to have the chance to be involved in the decision making.
I dont know how the voting bot works but do whatevers easiest, Im sure it can be an impossibe minefield to work out percentages etc. I woud make sure the membership list is full of silver and coin enthusiasts and make the reward votes equal.
The bot could throw out a random full vote once a week or month to a recognised member that has contributed the most to either a post or comment, maybe the bot could make a post of the week/month and we all vote and the winner gets a 100% vote on their vote comment so as a group we get a say in who gets a good reward for their efforts, runner up could get a 50% and so on.
If the bot needs recharging as a group we could excersise a slow week where we all reduce posts to give it chance to recharge and so on. Those in this for the long term will gest the get rewards whatever happens.
It`s easy enough for me to cut down the percentage to everyone when it starts dipping to low. I do like the idea of some sort of manual bonus votes and also having something to encouraged the community to vote for each other as well, these are great ideas.
I think tackling the membership list again is another issue as well.

After nearly 2 months on Steemit, I still have no idea how it all works, but am happy to go with what ever is decided.
but it would be important to have your own opinion.
OK then. Yes as a small minnow in the group, I'd like to be upvoted and then convert it to steem and grow my account, but I do think that those who contribute the most(financially) should be looked after/greatest %.
Yes, our main hope it so support the minnows in the community and everyone's growth.
For longevity I agree. If we can get the minnows (that contribute) up and running then the community will be self-sustaining and able to new members when they finally switch to steemit
This wonderful post has received a bellyrub of 2.62 % upvote from @bellyrub thanks to this cool cat: @buggedout. My pops @zeartul is one of your top steemit witness, if you like my bellyrubs please go vote for him, if you love what he is doing vote for this comment as well.

Putting #steemsilvergold will force steemit to put #steemsilvergold as the first tag, so no need to search body for it. I discover this when creating my 750 followers post.
I don't expect to get an upvote from the
silvergoldbotty bot if I'm posting a pretty scenic picture of the blue ocean for a blue colorchallenge day. If I'm posting about the Mayweather fight, or an NFL football game, or anything else that's totally not related to silver or gold, then I'm not expecting an upvote, not an automated upvote from
silvergoldbotty.
I would like in upvote if I'm posting good content article about silver or gold.
I would simply use weighted levels to the point where we're Distributing at least one penny per vote. At an 80% level.
I don't think the amount of support that we give to this bot should determine our voting level. We are not trying to exclude people and we're also looking to gain members who can provide interest in quality content. So I suggest not using any kind of support level distribution.
@goldkey
.
Thanks for the feedback, I have been trying to filter only silver content, but it doesn't seam to be working and many members that don't make silver posts but do make other posts and then are very active here commenting and voting did requests to be included in the voting. So it looks like we are going to proceed with voting everyone.
We will need to discuss the levels more in an upcoming post, as there is some mixed feedback.
Let's recommend to the community to use appropriate tags. If it is not related to steemsilvergold, please use more appropriate tags.
I suggest saying that the steemsilvergold tag is appropriate for silver and gold topics. Just because we are a community doesn't mean we have to tag everything with it.
If I am posting about football, it has nothing to do with silver, gold or the steemsilvergold tag.
Also, the life tag and the photography tag are the most popular. We don't put a sports article under photography or life.
As an example, I don't think it would make sense to put #teamaustralia tag on an post about New Orleans Mardi Gras.
