The Guangxu Emperor (1871-1908, Kuang-hsu Emperor) was the ninth emperor of the Qing dynasty. The son of Yihuan, a Manchu prince, the future emperor was born with the name Zaitian. His elevation to the imperial throne was engineered by Cixi, his aunt, in contravention to the usual rules of succession. On 12 January 1875, Zaitian's cousin, the Tongzhi Emperor, died without a son to succeed him and Empress Ci'Xi choose the 4 year old child to be the Emperor and she as the "puppet master" co-regent of the empire. The Guangxu Emperor died in November 1908, aged 37, one day before Cixi herself and scientific testing carried out on 2008 showed the emperor was poisoned with a lethal dose of arsenic 💀 (龙银 光绪元宝) Weight 26.9 grams This coin here was minted more then 100 years old ago in Pei Yang sited in the capital of Beijing. The coin was sold to me by an old collector in his late sixties at a fee market and he said it was left by his father when he came to Singapore during 1910. He actually didn't want to sell the coin but he had too because didn't had much saving so he sold some of his collection to raise money for daily needs. Until today, this coin still can hold value but its numismatic value is far higher then the silver contain of this coin.

Wow the detail in that coin is amazing, considering how old it is. Love the story that goes with it.
