A Pocket Full of Kryptonite

in #steemsilvergold5 years ago

Hi friends,

Let’s look at some snazzy quarters! I’m pretty sure I already showed these off about a month ago (when I bought them) but I just found them in an unlikely stash spot — so it was like getting them for free all over again 😜🤩🤪🤪🤪

Kinda’ made me feel a little like this guy ⤵️

Now, to be clear, I don’t think we will ever go back to a monetary system where we are exchanging coins as a primary medium of value-transfer, and indeed, physical cash in bill form has been floundering for years, and it’s only going to get “worse” for this paper. Now although i’m tempted, i’m not going to go on a crypto rant. Instead, i’m merely sharing some pictures of one way I like to hold precious metals.

Collecting coins is fun. And if you can spot a bargain then it can be lucrative too. But essentially, or elementally as it were, my chief goal is to collect and hold as many ounces of precious metals as I can until it makes sense to trade them for something else. With old Canadian coinage it is pretty easy, because each dollar of face value has 0.6 ounces of .999 Ag in it. So for example, the above photo of $5 in quarters has 3oz of pure Silver in it (ya’ get the copper for free).

Here’s some great 0.6 ozers that tell a story and feel great in the hand too 👍

I called this post “a pocket full of kryptonite” just ‘cause that’s what came to me, but I do believe that there is much power in this kind of “pocketchange.” It is Silver afterall, and most reading this post will agree that buying and hoarding this miracle metal now, will pay great dividends down the road.

Grab that “cash” with both hands and make a stack!

Cheers! from @thedamus

You know that I love Canadian junk silver, with special eyes to the half-dollar, but I am writing this comment just for you and all the Canadian Commemorative fans.
I started to publish today an enormous series of Canadian Commemoratives, all never showed here at steemsilvegold, that I bought in Canada in June, when I was visiting my daughter.
It is a most beautiful series of coins and I know that you will love them.

I spot a couple sailboats on the dollar Pile! Nice.

THIS is so inspiring for me! I always love to see coins and silver lined-up neatly or piled up! It always gives me goose bumps! Thanks, @thedamus!

Smart move there Mr. kryptonite🤣🤣🤣

🤓🤓😜🕺

Just like Kryptonite can pull down the big man himself, Gold and silver can take down the big fake fiat. Thanks for sharing!!

Good morning! I remember my Dad buying rolls of coins, looking for silver. Also, he was saving wheat pennies.

I used to look through the Wheat Pennies for Indian Head Pennies... lol...

I searched through Rolls of Silver Dollars, looking for Carson City Mint Marks...

I've never heard of an Indian Head penny; only Indian Head Nickles.

Indian Cents and Buffalo Nickels...

Ok, thank you.

But, I like to call them Indian Head Pennies...

Tomorrow is the 1st of July... I can't wait to see if I'm Right about the U.S. Treasury Agents...
