It was the deal day yesterday for the much awaited heavy weight boxing bout between Anthony Joshua who we his fans feel good to refer to as AJ and his camerounian/French opponent, Carlos Takam.
It was one of those gory nights of boxing which involves a spill of blood as Takam was needed to be attended to by his doctors at particular intervals due to his rather bleeding face. He showed a lot of strenght especially by absorbing a retinue of jabs thrown at him by the heavy weight champion while successfully blocking some of them.
It was an interesting match that ended in the 10th round of the contest. After taking in some punches and falling in the 4th round of the contest, making it his third fall in his professional career. Takam stood his ground while proving to be a worthy match for the world champion. However, things went harder sometime in the 10th round when AJ took some barrage of unanswered punches on the bruised boxer and made the referee Phil Edwards forced to call off the fight.
Worthy of note is that the end of the match wasn't palatable to everyone as some thought it was an early stoppage by the referee while some others thought it was the necessary thing as Takam was under a little attack from Joshua before the moment when the referee came between them.In reacting to this in the post fight interview after being asked his opinion on the stoppage of the match,
"It was a good fight until the ref stopped it. I have the upmost respect for Takam,” said Joshua, who injured his nose from a headbutt in the second round.
Imagine if it’s broke and I couldn’t breath and he started catching up in the middle rounds? It would have been a disaster, so I kept my cool. You have to control these situations because, if I showed any signs of weakness, the ref could have jumped in.

Carlos Takam also thinks it was a premature stoppage as he was still holding himself and on his feet when the match was called off.
I don’t think they should have stopped it
I want the rematch if Anthony gives me it.”

This goes on to be Takam's fourth career defeat and after a loss by points last year to Parker and a knockout defeat he received from Povetkin in 2014. Meanwhile, AJ achieved his 20:0:0 undefeated professional status with the fight.
Thats our boy Joshua... So damn proud of him 😁😁😁
As for discussion on the post, count me out pls... I didnt even read it 😂😂😂
Lol... You ehn! and of cause, our boy he is.
glad he won he took to the fight with one goal to win and he was determine , i love the way he carries himself , like a true champ. great win
I agree with you. I think Takam came out to be a strong opponent at the end as was able to absorb those punches. I think he's aim was just to drag the game of out knockout to alter AJ's substantive record at the time.
