RE: Lions Tour of NZ – 2nd Test, Auckland

I felt a little for Faumuina with the last penalty. Sinkler is a big guy moving at speed and Faumuina has to go low in the tackle to bring him down. He really has no time to adjust when Sinkler jumps to catch the pass. It's one where the law feels wrong, even though it's based around player safety.

That said, Cruden's decision to cross-field kick on 78 minutes was just a little crazy. The Lions had been shipping penalties all game. Pick and drive and pressure and wait for the penalty. Take the three points and go into the third test in an unassailable position.

yes i agree, the final penalty was unlucky but technically correct. the law does need changing - but to what i'm not sure. & yes i'm sure hansen had a few quiet words to cruden about that cross kick - a bit like jumping from a plane without a parachute.
