The 2018 NIT Tournament Final 4 is tonight. The first game of the double header takes place when the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers face off against the Utah Runnin’ Utes. The game tips off at 6pm Central Standard Time and can be seen on National Television on ESPN. It will take place at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Western Kentucky is favored by 1.5 points and the over/under is 139.5 points.
Western Kentucky is coming off of an exciting 92-84 win over the Oklahoma State Cowboys on Wednesday night last week. Taveion Hollingsworth led the way with his best game of the year. He had 30 points including hitting 4-7 from the 3 point line. He also added 8 rebounds. The Hilltoppers would get to the free throw line 30 times and make 23 of them. They did only have one player off of their bench score and they will need to get more production than that tonight if they want to move on to the NIT Championship.
The Utah Runnin’ Utes are coming off of a strong performance against St. Mary’s where they won 67-58 last Wednesday night. It took 5 minutes of overtime to get the game settled and guard Sedrick Barefield hit big shot after big shot. He would lead the team in scoring with 19 points including 5-7 from deep. Forward Tyler Rawson also made 5-7 from downtown and had 17 points on the night.
Tonight’s game will be a battle of wills. WKU will try and push the pace while Utah will try and slow it down. Which ever team can control the speed, will come out on top and move on to the 2018 NIT Championship Game on Thursday night.
