Day 6 of the 2018 Winter Olympics is in the books and we are back with another medal count update. There were several events that gave out medals on the sixth day of action. Norway came storming into the total medal lead after winning 6 medals on the day! They now have 17 total medals and 6 Golds. Germany had another good day and are up to 15 total medals and continue to lead all countries with 9 Golds. Canada is third with 13 and the Netherlands fell back to fourth with 12.

One of the stars of day 6 was American Mikaela Shiffrin. She absolutely crushed it on the Giant Slalom in Alpine Skiing. She posted an impressive time of 2:20:02 and had plenty to smile about. The now 22 year old was the youngest ever to achieve this feat back four years ago at 18. This is her second Olympic medal. Shiffrin is from the mountain town of Vail, Colorado and has developed a large fan base in the United States. And she is far from over in the Sochi Games. She will be back in action in another event on Saturday, in which she is the heavy favorite.

There were a pair of stars from Wednesday’s events in Figure Skating. The German duo of Bruno Massot and his female partner Aliona Savchenko dominated on the ice. They won the Gold medal in beautiful fashion when they put on a flawless free skate performance. Their 159 points is a world record and made for a night that they will never forget.

Day 7 will be another opportunity for new stars and heros to be crowned. Men’s short program Figure Skating will be a highly viewed event as will the Women’s snowboarding. But the main event of the night will be the Men’s Gold medal Skeleton which includes American John Daly. We will be back later with another Olympic Medal Count Update and highlight some of the stars of Day 7.
