Thursday evening, the L.A. Kings who are making a late playoff push grabbed their fourth dub in their five most recent games. Jeff Carter, who just recently returned from a previous season-ending injury was acknowledged as the first star of the game as he notched a two point night. Additionally, King has complimented the Kings winning streak with four goals in their past five.
Washington has still not absolutely secured a playoff position, and if they continue the path they are on, they will slip out of playoff contention for the first time in quite some years. Jakub Vrana scored the Caps lone goal, as they were defeated by a final score of 1-3. T.J. Oshie put the puck into the air and Quick lost complete site of it, while Vrana came around the corner and knocked it in.
Lewis put three shot attempts on Graubner before finally putting one behind him, on a rebound. Trevor scored his 14th goal of his career, and Jeff King scored his second point of the evening as he tallied the assist. As Washington aspired for a late third period answer, they pulled Graubner from the back of the nets and the 7-year L.A. native Clifford scored an empty-netter as the Kings defeated the Caps 3-1.
Respectively, each of these teams are grinding and playing their best hockey late in the season as they both have high hopes to make the playoffs. L.A. will play host to a struggling St. Louis team on Saturday while Washington will travel to Northern Cali to take on the Sharks.
