The PGA Tour is in full swing as it makes its way to Riviera Country Club in Los Angeles, CA for the Genesis Open. Regardless of the tournament sponsor, Riviera is one of the top five most difficult venues on tour, regularly holding the winner to single digits under par.
Dustin Johnson (6-1) opens up as this week’s favorite to win. The world’s number one golfer is the defending champion, winning by five strokes last year. He is also in good form, placing runner up in last week’s AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. DJ had a solid hold on the lead after two rounds but sputtered out in the final round after carding an even-par 72 in the final round.

Rory McIlroy (12-1) looks to rebound from his 2018 PGA Tour debut last week where he missed the cut. He has only played in this event once in the past five year, placing 20th in 2015.
Jordan Speith (12-1) is picking up the pace after last week’s solid outing, finishing in 20th place at -8. Speith played in this event in 2015, 2016, and 2017, finishing in 12th, 4th, and 22nd place, respectively, in his three appearances at Riviera.
Justin Thomas (16-1) took a week off after his 17th place finish at the Waste Management Phoenix Open. Thomas has made the cut in all three appearances at Rivera, finishing 41st, 54th and 39th.
Tiger Woods enters the Genesis Open at 40-1. Although Woods has never won at Riviera, he has a long history at the venue, most notably, playing in his first PGA event back in 1996 as an amateur.

How high a ranking do you think Tiger will reach in the future? Is he a carnival attraction at this point or can he crack the top 20 again?
