The Los Angeles Dodgers and the Cincinnati Reds face off tonight in National League action in the MLB. First pitch is scheduled for 8:10pm Central Standard Time and can be seen on Fox Sports Ohio and on National Television on the Direct TV MLB Season Pass. It will take place at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, California. The Dodgers are heavy favorites at -179 and the over/under 8.5.
The Dodgers had high hopes after a fantastic 2017 season. But they have been hit hard by the injury bug and are only 16-22 on the year. They have had Forsythe, Seager, Ryu, Kershaw, and Cingrani miss significant time so far. Ross stripling will get the start today on the pitching mound and he has played great so far. His ERA is only 1.93 and he has a WHIP of 1.41. But the Dodgers will need to get him some run support tonight and they are only 21st in the MLB in batting average.
The Reds are off to an even worse start and are 12-27 so far this season. They are desperately searching for answers in every facet of the game. Tonight could be another rough outing as their starting pitcher, Homer Bailey, is 0-5 with an ERA of 5.61. He actually has an ok WHIP of 1.34 but the rest of his pitching stats are awful. Joey Votto is having his usual good year and is batting .283 with an on base % of .408. But they will need a full team effort tonight to beat the Dodgers.
