The 6th ranked Gonzaga Bulldogs punched their ticket to the NCAA Tournament and are the 2018 West Coast Conference Tournament Champions. Oh what a night it was in Las Vegas as the Bulldogs beat the BYU Cougars 74-54. The win has put Gonzaga’s name in serious talks to earn a number one seed in the upcoming March Madness.
Head coach Mark Few had everything working during the WCC Tournament run. His star forward Killian Tillie played phenomenal. His shooting was lights out and he has made 22 of 26 shots from the 3 point line. That is an all time hot streak that players only dream of. Forward Johnathan Williams was a beast on the boards and grabbed 13 rebounds. Zach Norvell Jr. added 17 points and has made at least four 3 point shots in three straight games.
BYU won’t be hearing their name read during Selection Sunday this week. But they will likely be invited to the NIT Tournament. They are a young team with a very bright future. The game was actually tied at 27 a piece before Gonzaga blew the doors off of them.
And now they wait. The Bulldogs will have 5 days to rest up before hearing their fate on Sunday night. At worst they will be a number 2 seed, but I think they have a real shot at catching the 1 line. Thank you for following @steemsports and you can find me @hogan22
It was an incredible game as a Gonzaga fan. The Zags were firing on all cylinders and it was absolutely beautiful basketball. So much movement and passing up good shots for great shots. Just incredible.
