The Philadelphia Phillies and the New York Mets will face off in the MLB Sunday Night Game of the Week tonight. The first pitch is scheduled for 6:08pm Central Standard Time and the game can be seen on National Television on ESPN. It will take place at BB&T Ballpark in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. The two teams have split the first four games of this rare 5 game series that featured a double header on Thursday to make up for a rained out game from earlier this season. The Phillies are big favorites tonight at -187 and the over/under is 8.5 runs.

It has been a fantastic year so far for the Phillies. They are enjoying their best season in years and have been battling it out with the Atlanta Braves in the National League East. The Braves have a slim .5 game lead and Philly can pull even with a win tonight.
Nick Pivetta will head to the mound tonight to try and make that happen. It has been kind of a bumpy season though for Pivetta who is just 7-9 with an ERA of 4.37. Luckily for him though, the Mets are 29th in the MLB in batting average and 22nd in runs.

The Mets will counter tonight with Jason Vargas starting at pitcher. This has been the worst year in Vargas career and it may be his last. He is 2-8 with an ERA of 8.10 and a WHIP of 1.78. Those numbers are horrific and Vargas can’t seem to get anything working.
Tonight’s game points in all directions for the Phillies to get the win. They have a better starting pitcher, better offense, and home field advantage.

The Mets scored over 8% of their season total for runs during this series. Pretty crazy to think about
