Now that the 2018 Winter Olympics have come and gone, we want to take a look back at one of the best Winter Olympic athletes of the last few Games. American skier Lindsey Vonn has had a spectacular career for Team USA.
Vonn is 33 years old and this was almost certainly her last Winter Olympics. She is from St. Paul, Minnesota and grew up on the slopes. Skiing was her passion and first love and has been a major part of her life. It will be difficult for her to walk away from her favorite sport.
She made her Olympic debut all the way back in 2002. At 16 years old, Lindsey Vonn was one of the best in the world. She would not find the podium though until the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. Vonn would win her only Gold medal of her career in the Women’s Downhill. She would also win the Bronze in the Super-G event that year too.
Vonn would continue a great career after her big performance in Vancouver but had a horrific knee injury and would miss out on the 2014 Winter Olympics. At the age of 29, Vonn had a decision to make. Would she retire with 2 Olympic medals sitting in her trophy shelf or would she go through a grueling rehab and try to make a comeback? Vonn answered those questions and was back in South Korea competing in multiple events. Although she missed out on another Gold, Vonn would win the Bronze in the Women’s Downhill, which was the same event she won 8 years earlier.
Congrats on a fantastic career Lindsey Vonn. If you are thinking about one more run in 4 years in Beijing, we say go for it!

the only thing difficult to like about Lindsey Vonn is that she went out with that asshole Tiger.
