I agree with your take - if LeBron does jettison in free agency (which is looking likelier IMO) then the Cavs should just do whatever they need to shed salary. JR Smith and Tristan Thompson need to go like you pointed out, but their albatross salaries are going to make that extremely difficult as you pointed out. Either way, if there's no LeBron, it should be total rebuild for the Cavs.
