How to play Chess?
Hello, in this post we will learn the basic rules to play chess.
Chess is a game in which 2 players participate, each one of them initially has 16 pieces (8 pawns, 2 horses, 2 towers, 2 bishops, 1 queen and 1 king) that move alternately on a board of 8 × 8 squares, with The objective of capturing the opponent's king.
The initial position of the pieces on each side is as follows:
That is to say, in the last row, in the corners are the towers, then the horses, then the bishops, with the queen and the king among them, always placing the lady in the square of her color.
The board must be placed so that each player has a white square in his right corner, and the game is started by the person using the white pieces.
Each piece has a different way to move, which I show you next:
• King: can move in any direction, be it vertical, horizontal or diagonal, but only one square. In addition to advancing you can also go back.
• Queen: like the king, he can move in any direction, the difference is that he advances or retreats the number of squares he wants.
• Bishop: simply moves in a diagonal direction, moving backwards or advancing the number of squares you want.
• Tower: move forward or backward the squares you want, but only moving in a vertical or horizontal direction.
• Horse: moves in the form of L, that is, 2 squares in vertical or horizontal, and 1 horizontally or vertically respectively.
• Pawn: this piece moves forward in a vertical direction 1 single box, making an exception in its first move, where it can move 2.
It should be noted that the pawn never retreats, does not capture in the direction in which it moves (thus capture to the pieces that are diagonal to it), and that when it reaches the last row of the board it can become any of the other pieces (this action is known as crown, and normally the pawn becomes a queen).
To capture a piece, it is removed from the board, and the piece that it captures takes the place of the captured piece. In this game, special moves can be produced, for example, castling, where the king moves 2 squares in horizontal direction, and the tower is located in a square just next to it, but in the opposite direction to which the King moved (castling can occur when neither the king nor the tower have moved).
Also, we must know that the pieces can not jump over the others, except the horse and the tower in the castling.
I conclude by reminding you that these are simply basic rules of chess, which as I said at the beginning, the objective is to capture the opponent's king, therefore, the player who achieves that action wins, (no matter how many pieces are left on the board) and inviting them to be encouraged to practice this game so fun!
I hope dear friends of the Steemit community, this post will be very useful for everyone. I love math and this game improves your skills and abilities to think very carefully and analyze.
