How is snow formed

in #steemstem7 years ago

Hello steemians, today i was just thinking of how snowflakes are formed and i found out that majority of people around me dont actually know.So i had to go into research.
I checked some of my science books and even went online and i found it.

#Formationofsnow
The simple explanation for the science of snow formation is when temperatures are low and there is water droplets in the sky in form of ice crystals. The ice crystals tend to collide with each other and their by form snow flakes.Which when heavy enough in the sky would fall to the ground.

A more compehensive explanation for this is Snow crystals form when tiny supercooled cloud droplets (about 10 μm in diameter) freeze. These droplets are able to remain liquid at temperatures lower than −18 °C (0 °F), because to freeze, a few molecules in the droplet need to get together by chance to form an arrangement similar to that in an ice lattice. Then the droplet freezes around this "nucleus".When the crystals are formed ,they form aggregates and when heavy in the y fall to the ground.
Thanks thats all for today for more .
