Nice. Though I question the explanation for it does not detail why the winds whirl around the fire.

What is fire? At very high temperatures as you suggested these fire devils are it is plasma where the gasses are partially ionized which is kind of saying it has an electrical component. All things on the electromagnetic spectrum have spin or even spinning vortices. Which is why we see spin on both the micro scale(atomic), in growth patterns(Fibonacci sequence, golden ratio, etc) all the way up to galaxies.

The winds whirl as the colder flows push the hotter and lighter ones that are heated up from the fire.
