As a microbiologist, I really think Several types of muta­tions exist. Some arise from the alteration of single pairs of nu­cleotides and from the addition or deletion of one nucleotide
pair in the coding regions of a gene.

Yes, Indels are a thing, so is oxidative damage, and formation of a variety of nucleotide adducts... However that level of detail was not necessary given the intended audience of this post (non scientists).
