Interesting article, thanks for the post. Do people rarely use destruction of neurons to try to erase bad memories?? It sounds like a lot could go wrong.
neurons can be destroyed by pathologies such as dementia, epileptic crisis, alcohol intake, autism

When you are badly hurt emotionally by traumatic past experiences sometimes we tend to force ourselves to forget about it. Since re-living it over and over again could only worsen your wounds. So we forget about it and move on with our lives. But sometimes whatever forceful mental erasing we tend to do, painful memories keeps going back which torments us psychologically.
