Android 9.0 has officially been released.... Just the way it's predecessors have been given names of various snacks, android 9 is no different in that aspect. It is called Android Pie.
The update is ready to be rolled out in its finished form and will be available for download only to pixel devices today. People using devices from third party manufacturers can get their update before the end of fall this year.

Android 9 being the successor to android 8(oreo) comes with exciting new features and updates to existing ones.
Android 9(pie) comes with Adaptive battery feature which observes apps that are not used frequently and limits resources allocated to them. This helps prolong the battery life of your device. There is also adaptive brightness which automatically adjusts your's screen's brightness depending on your location and what you are doing at the moment.

The latest android also has the ability to learn and it is called machine learning. This machine learning helps to make tasks which are performed frequently quicker.
There is a new feature called Slices which allows apps insert themselves in your searches so tasks can be performed quicker.

Example, when you search for Lyft in the Google app, Lyft shows a Slice with options to either go Home or Work which you can tap in order quickly request a cab to those locations. Apps can also add quick actions within the app launcher at different times of the day depending on your activities.

There is also a new system of navigation which sees the traditional three buttons replaced by two. You can now minimize an app by swiping from bottom up just as seen in iphone x and the ancient blackberry 10 devices. Contents of apps minimized to the overview window can be interacted with even without necessarily switching between apps.

Digital wellbeing is a feature that will be released to android 9 later this year. It comes with a new Dashboard which monitors your app usage and set App Timers to prevent overusing apps and also Wind Down that switches on Night Light and Do Not Disturb and turns the display grayscale so you don't overuse your phone before going to bed.
